Job Overview

The quality management team plays a key role in providing quality support for assembly line functions in Detroit. The open position of HDEP quality engineer is a challenging position that involves working within a team atmosphere and providing line side problem solving support.

Responsibilities

Coordinates quality objectives with other departments

Drives continuous improvement by developing and implementing error and mistake proofing

Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems

Drive issues to closure through the various quality feedback loops

Analyzes assembly process data to look for trends or possible upcoming concerns.

Works with Advanced Quality Tools (i.e., PFMEAs) to ensure a quality assembly process

Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems

Analyzes SPC data and works with manufacturing engineering to make process improvements

Knowledge of GD&T and CMM operations

Facilitate others in the executions of Quality Improvement activities

To work in a plant environment, working hands-on with engine assembly

  • Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience OR an Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience required

  • An attached resume is required

  • Product knowledge for engines, axles and transmissions

Best Team. Driven to connect our world. Apply today! Job Overview Tactical Supplier Quality Engineer's (TSQE's) monitor and audit the quality of all parts purchased from an outside source. They work to not only find defects, but also to find the cause of the defect and develop a solution. A Tactical Supplier Quality Engineer is the first line of defense for potential supplier quality issues for all product lines (Engine, Axle, Transmissions, Turbo, Machining). Responsibilities * Investigates and determines responsibility for quality complaints with respect to suspect purchased components. * Initiates supplier containment with respect to defective or suspect purchased components. * Ensures disposition of defective material with the supplier. * Directly contacts the supplier to coordinate reactive activities. * Documents activities related to investigation, disposition and resolution to quality complaints. * Coordinates cross functional activities within a manufacturing union environment. * Interacts with international co-workers with respect to supplier quality related issues. * Participates in internal plant quality improvement activities. * Performs special projects as required. * Keeps abreast of specifications and industry standards. * Provides training to personnel as needed. * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Supply Chain preferred with 1 year of related experience OR an Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience OR 6 years of related experience required * An attached resume is required * Understanding of statistical methods in process assessment, control, and problem solving preferred. * Expertise in specific manufacturing and assembly processes used by Detroit Diesel Corporation preferred. * Experience with the use of measuring/test equipment (micrometers, calipers, gage pins, tensile testers, and vision systems) preferred. * Familiarity with heavy duty engines, axles, transmissions, and after treatment technology preferred. * Knowledgeable in quality assurance disciplines preferred * Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required. * Ability to work day, afternoon, midnight shift and weekends required. * High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others required. * Demonstrates verbal and written communication skills required. * Ability to formulate and coordinate several activities simultaneously required. * Ability to interpret drawings and engineering specifications required. * Ability to start an investigation, gather all necessary data, and properly close the investigation with supporting data required. * Ability to work through quality problems with internal customer and external supplier required. * Ability to manage time commitment between different tasks and knowing which task is the priority required.
