Job Title: Early Learning Coordinator (ELC)

Reports to: Director of Federal Programs

Job Description: The Early Learning Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and support to schools in improving kindergarten readiness and increasing PreK enrollment within the district. This role requires a strong background in K-5 education and expertise in early childhood development, including familiarity with mClass assessments, PreK programs, and developmental strategies to support young students. The Early Learning Coordinator collaborates with administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners to implement effective early learning initiatives and ensure that all children have access to high-quality early education experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Kindergarten Readiness:

  • Collaborate with schools to develop and implement strategies to improve kindergarten readiness, including curriculum alignment, transition activities, and early literacy initiatives.

  • Provide professional development and coaching to teachers on effective instructional practices for young learners, with a focus on early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.

  • Analyze mClass assessment data and provide targeted support to schools in using assessment results to inform instruction and identify students in need of additional support.

  • Collaborate with school counselors and support staff to address the social-emotional needs of young students and promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of kindergarten readiness initiatives, making recommendations for program improvement based on data and best practices.

  • PreK Enrollment and Engagement:

  • Collaborate with school administrators and community partners to develop strategies to increase PreK enrollment and ensure access to high-quality PreK programs for all eligible children.

  • Conduct outreach and engagement activities to inform families about the benefits of PreK education and assist them in navigating the enrollment process.

  • Collaborate with community organizations, early childhood providers, and government agencies to establish partnerships that support PreK enrollment and program quality.

  • Provide support to PreK programs in implementing developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum alignment, and assessments.

  • Monitor and evaluate PreK enrollment data, identifying trends and barriers, and developing strategies to address them.

  • Professional Development and Support:

  • Provide ongoing professional development and training to teachers and staff in early learning practices, including instructional strategies, curriculum development, and assessment.

  • Collaborate with district curriculum specialists and instructional coaches to align early learning initiatives with district-wide instructional goals and standards.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor for teachers, providing guidance and support in implementing effective practices for young learners.

  • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and policies related to early childhood education, sharing relevant information with school staff and stakeholders.

  • Facilitate collaborative learning opportunities, such as workshops and study groups, to promote professional growth and knowledge sharing among teachers.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to kindergarten readiness, PreK enrollment, and program effectiveness.

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on the progress and outcomes of early learning initiatives for district administrators and other stakeholders.

  • Utilize data to identify achievement gaps, disparities in access, and areas for improvement, and develop action plans to address them.

  • Collaborate with district data teams to ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.

Collaboration and Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to enhance early learning opportunities and resources for children and families.

  • Participate in community meetings, task forces, and committees focused on early childhood education to represent the district's interests and contribute to community-wide efforts.

  • Engage parents and families in their child's early learning journey through workshops, informational sessions, and parent involvement initiatives.

  • Foster positive relationships with early childhood providers and community partners, facilitating seamless transitions and continuity of learning between PreK and kindergarten.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in education or a related field (early childhood education preferred).

  • Five years of successful experience working with young learners, preferably in an early childhood or K-3 elementary school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, including age-appropriate practices, curriculum, and assessments.

  • Familiarity with readiness & mClass assessments and data analysis.

  • Experience working with young learners, preferably in an early childhood or elementary school setting.

  • Strong understanding of kindergarten readiness indicators and strategies to support early learning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Familiarity with local and state policies and regulations related to early childhood education and PreK programs.

  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data-informed decisions.

  • Proficiency in using educational technology tools and software.
