Job Overview

The HCM Systems Trainer is a key member of the Georgetown's Learning & Development team and works closely with the University Information Services (UIS).

They design, develop, and execute high-quality, technical training programs and content on the effective utilization Georgetown's Workday-powered Human Capital Management (HCM) platform, known as the Georgetown Management System (GMS).

As well, they analyze the training needs of the user communities, and provide live and asynchronous demonstrations, orientation, training classes, and ongoing user support to a wide variety of University stakeholders.

Finally, they HCM Systems Trainer collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders on training opportunities and user documentation for critical transactions within GMS, including those related to staffing transactions, benefits, payroll, student employment and faculty.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Training Session Support: Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive training programs, both virtual and in-person, to educate employees on the features and functionalities of GMS.

  • Customized Training Materials: Tailor training materials and resources to meet the specific needs of different departments and user groups within the organization. Stay current on GMS features and functionality and update training materials accordingly.

  • User Support: Serve as a primary point of contact for Workday HCM users, offering timely assistance, troubleshooting, and guidance on navigating and using GMS effectively and responding to relevant help tickets through our UIS help ticket system

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Human Resources (HR), University Information Services (UIS), Business Design and Optimization Group (BDOG), and other relevant departments to understand business requirements and ensure alignment of training initiatives with organizational goals.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain training documentation, job aids, user guides, and tutorials to supplement training sessions and support ongoing learning.

  • System Administration: Assist in system configuration, testing, and implementation activities as needed, working closely with UIS and system administrators; and maintain the HCM and Employee Self Service sections of the GMS Training application.

  • Learning and Development: Collaborate with and contribute to the L&D team regarding training strategy, program development, marketing; contribute to the overall success of L&D at Georgetown University; and offer and advocate for a systems lens to non-technical leadership development training.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the University Director of Learning & Development, the HCM Systems Trainer works closely with both HRIS team and the HCM systems configuration team within UIS.

They also interface with a wide variety of University team members through the development and delivery of training - in multifaceted collaboration to ensure that the University community is well supported to carry out core HCM functions in GMS.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, Training and Development, or related field

  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience as a client-facing trainer or instructional designer

  • Proficiency in creating virtual and in-person training, instructional materials, teaching aids, user guides, and/or technical/troubleshooting manuals

  • Strong understanding of Human Resources processes and best practices

  • Commitment to creating accessible and inclusive training environments and materials

  • Excellent communication, presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to communicate complex material in a straightforward manner to diverse HCM users with different needs and different levels of expertise in the system to include senior executives, faculty, administrators, students, and IT professionals

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

  • Problem-solving attitude with a strong dedication to customer service and supporting others

  • Ability to work well both independently and with cross-functional teams

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (Microsoft Suite), and Google Workplace (Google Suite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of demonstrated experience using a Workday HCM or related platform

  • 2 years of experience working in a higher education institution/postsecondary context

  • Proficiency in Articluate360

  • Experience with Vimeo or similar video-sharing platform(s)

  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable video editing software

  • Experience using Audacity or comparable audio recording software

  • Experience managing training courses within a Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Advanced proficiency in Zoom video-conferencing platform

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
