Avalon Health Care has an opening for certified Home Care Aides to join our team in a special Bridge program to receive your NAC.


Responsible for the provision of resident services, including assistance with personal care, social and recreational activities, meal services, and other tasks as needed to facilitate the continued well-being of the resident.

Essential Job Functions:

Observe and practice safety according to facility policy and procedure:

  • Assists in maintaining a clean, comfortable and safe environment.

  • Support resident's participation in activity programs limited to assisting them (when needed) to the activity location; encourages resident participation in activities.

  • Assists as requested with meal services, limited to guiding residents to dining room, setting up tables, cleaning up the dining room.

  • Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents.

  • Reviews the Staff Communication log

  • Responds to call lights in a timely manner and assists within skill level.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.

  • Reports any abuse, suspected abuse or alleged abuse to the appropriate agency(s).

  • Able to explain and demonstrate fire/emergency procedures and must participate in any emergency or drill activities.

  • Show respect for facility property.

  • Make beds correctly and wrinkle free.

  • Maintain residents' rooms in neat, orderly and clutter-free manner.

Promote and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, residents, visitors, volunteers, and regulators:

  • Treat residents with compassion and dignity.

  • Establish effective communication/interaction with residents and families.

  • Ensure residents' right to privacy (visual and auditory).

  • Show respect for residents' personal property.

  • Ensure residents are dressed appropriately, consistent with weather conditions, and according to their wishes.

  • Recognize a resident's ability to make choices and support these within the constraints of the care giving environment.

Residents' Rights and Positive Relationships

  • Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents' rights;

  • Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, and presenting a professional appearance.


  • Comply with all Company policies related to safety and infection control procedures

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED preferred.

  • Experience with elderly individuals preferred.

  • Must attend and meet in-service training requirements.

  • Experience performing care giving tasks preferred.

  • Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.

  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Must be willing to assist others, including co-workers.

  • Must maintain regular attendance.

  • Must meet all local health regulations, pass post-employment physical exam if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.

This is an exciting opportunity for RNs who are seeking to leverage their skills outside of the hospital setting by evaluating candidates pursuing their HCA certification. Ideal candidates must have a flexible schedule and the availability to work 1-3 test events during the week for up to 8 hours at a time, please apply online at to be considered. This role will also be responsible for ensuring the highest quality test experience for Prometric's clients consistent with the Vision, Mission, Values, and Policy & Procedures. Responsibilities: Evaluation of Candidate Skills * Proctoring a computerized knowledge-based examination, and * Objective observation of candidates performing a demonstration of skills. Test Event Delivery & Security * Control test area by maintaining a working knowledge of Prometric policies and practices * Greet examinees and verify identification * Monitor candidates as they complete their written exam * Observe and rate candidates as they complete their practical exam * Resolve candidate issues or report them to the appropriate supervisor * Protect security of all computer software in Test Center environment * Possess technical proficiency to reboot workstations, and reset passwords as necessary * Report any occurrences which fall outside company guidelines to corporate management Other * Develop and maintain strong working relationship with testing sites (either regional or in facility testing) * Maintain online appointment schedule to ensure event coverage * Ability to provide on-site leadership for candidates * Coordinate candidate rosters with NCT team This position will be responsible for proctoring 1-3 test days a week (8 hours at a time) at various locations withing the state of Washington. Examinations are performed mainly Monday through Friday with some Saturday testing. Required Experience: * Registered Nurses with active and unrestricted license and at least 2 years of experience as an RN * One (1) year of experience in long term care, home care or caring for the chronically ill in any setting * BA/BS Degree preferred * Must be willing to travel up to 30 miles from zip code * Basic computer skills in MS Office * Strong communication skills (oral and written) * Ideal candidate may possess staff development and/or training experience, preferred * Ability stand for extended periods of time while administering the exam and evaluating candidate * Must be proactive, flexible, amicable and able to solve problems independently. * Access to a personal computer If you would like the opportunity to help maintain the high standards set in the healthcare profession, please submit your resume to us.
