As a HBM Auto Systems Validation Engineer at Micron, you will be responsible for validating Micron's products with flawless and issue-free release to both internal and external automotive customers. We are engaged in developing groundbreaking silicon-to-systems solutions - right from technology development and sophisticated memory designs to product development, systems design, and validation resulting in extraordinary memory solutions. The seniority level offered will be based on a combination of experience and education.

In this position, you will collaborate with Micron's various teams all over the world and support the efforts of groups such as Product Engineering, Sales, Customer Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Marketing to proactively validate and integrate products that optimize quality, reliability, time-to-market, and customer happiness in the automotive market.

In HBM DEG (High Bandwidth Memory - DRAM Engineering Group), we innovate and integrate end-to-end groundbreaking front-end and backend processes with groundbreaking design, debugging various tests, and qualification techniques to develop the lowest power per bit solutions to improve customer experience in the field of ML (Machine Learning) and AI (Artificial Intelligence). What's Encouraged Daily:

  • Be responsible for automotive system-level validation, failure analysis, characterization, and experimentation of customer systems

  • Run and configure diagnostic software, design experiments, analyze and interpret data, create custom tools (Hardware and Software), presenting data to customers both inside and outside Micron

  • Provide technical customer integration support at customer locations. To accomplish these responsibilities, you will use a variety of equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, multi-meters, etc.)

  • Work with auto customers and memory enablers like GPU manufacturers to attain design wins and qualifications for Micron memory products in their applications

  • You will work with other engineers within the HBM team, Product Engineering, FAE, Quality Assurance, and business unit teams

Debug Micron Product Customer Failures

  • Provide technical support to customers and the field sales

  • Utilize diagnostics to reproduce the original failure

  • Identify failure mechanism

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and Return Material Authorization (RMA)

  • Provide 8D or failure documentation for customer failure resolution

  • Implement fixes for fails (design or process)

Design and Implement Micron System Tools

  • Create test scripts for a variety of applications

  • Create and modify hardware that controls test parameters (i.e. temperature or voltage)

  • Support internal customer diagnostics software and hardware tools within Micron labs

  • Interface with external customers to create intelligent DOE (design of experiments)

Perform System Characterization

  • Use software, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other tools to understand system memory usage

  • Develop software to interpret data

  • Collaborate with Product and Application Engineering

  • Communicate results

How To Qualify:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 1-3 years of experience or Master's Degree, with a balance of both hardware and software skill sets

  • Comfortable working and programming with Linux, Python/C/C++, and version control systems (git, svn)

  • Basic understanding of DRAM operations and computer networking

What Sets You Apart:

  • Experience in bios/Linux driver development/debug

  • Understanding of system architectures

  • Comfortable working with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers

  • Previous experience validating products with both hardware/firmware/software components

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • A self-motivated, hard-working team player who enjoys working with diverse abilities and backgrounds

  • Good communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to other design peers in verbal and written form

  • Having an innovative approach that is open to improving upon any of our processes or products.
