We are hiring a Hazardous Material Handler to join our Finished Goods team!

Are you knowledgeable in how to accurately handle and ship hazardous materials? The Materials Handler's top priorities are to safely and accurately receive, stock, pull, pack and prepare service parts and chemicals for hazardous shipments destined for domestic and international areas for less than truckloads (LTL), truckloads (TL), ocean, air and small parcel (UPS, FedEx, DHL) shipments. You will prepare shipments by accurately labeling, marking and correctly identifying hazardous and non-hazardous shipments while following International Air Transportation Association (IATA), International Marine Dangerous Goods (IMDG), and Department of Transportation (DOT) CFR-49 standards as well as crafting hazardous materials declaration shipping papers and crafting commercial invoices for U.S. Customs and abroad. Responsible for the accuracy of incoming material and Purchase Orders.

YOUR RIPPLE EFFECT

  • Is attention to detail your strong suit? As a Materials Handler, you will count delivered materials for 100% accuracy and also close incoming transfers in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. After receiving the material, you'll safely stock incoming material on their respective designated racks.

  • Can you operate a forklift? Other duties include loading and unloading pallets and boxes from trailers using a forklift and/or electric and manual pallet jack, loading pallets into trailers, in addition to moving material from the Finished Goods receiving area to the Finished Goods stocking locations.

  • Are you proficient in hazardous shipping regulations? You will need to verify quantity and part numbers and then prepare orders for shipment by labeling, marking, and identifying as well as preparing Dangerous Goods Declaration (DGD) forms for hazardous materials shipments according to the following standards:

  • Ground shipments including LTL, TL, and small parcel (UPS, FedEx) using DOT CFR-49 standards.

  • Air shipments including heavyweight pallets (bulk cargo) and small parcel (UPS, FedEx) using IATA standards for cargo only and passenger aircraft shipments.

  • Ocean shipments including less than container loads (LCL) and full container loads (FCL) using IMDG standards.

  • Are you quality focused? Before shipping you'll review a hazardous materials checklist to accurately determine if material adheres to federal standards for shipping. You are also responsible for the inspection and restocking of sales return order (SRO) parts.

  • Do you have computer skills? You will routinely run and close End of Day online reports for UPS, FedEx, and DHL shipments. When needed, you'll order weekly shipping supplies from small parcel shippers (UPS, FedEx, DHL). Additionally, you will conduct cycle counts and perform adjustments in the ERP system, lookup part availability through the inventory system, and assist with questions regarding inventory and back order availability.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • At least 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in each of the following areas: stocking, order pulling, packing, small parcel shipping, hazardous materials, dangerous goods, forklift operation.

  • Dangerous goods/hazardous materials certifications for: International Air Transportation Association (IATA), International Marine Dangerous Goods (IMDG), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) CFR-49 are strongly preferred.

  • Forklift experience with the ability to be certified.

  • Standup order picker or turret truck certification preferred.

  • Digital literacy with accurate data entry skills; enterprise resource planning (ERP) system experience is a plus.

  • Excellent social skills with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization as well as strong ability to work in a team environment, are required to be successful in this position.

Hiring Range: $16.25-25.50
