Responsibilities:
IEM is actively seeking creative and highly talented Hazard Mitigation Planner/Plan reviewer for a variety of deployable opportunities throughout the United States.The Hazard Mitigation Planning Specialist will be responsible for the following:Provide direct technical assistance to States, local municipalities/jurisdictions and counties in regards to their Natural and Man-made Hazard Mitigation planning efforts.Facilitate and participate in the development of new and updates to Hazard Mitigation Plans.Review local, Multi-jurisdictional, Tribal and State Standard and Enhanced Mitigation plans utilizing the current Mitigation Plan Review tool.

Required Skills:
* Excellent oral communication and presentation skills are essential. * Demonstrated training or large group facilitation skills desired. * Ability to work in a difficult environment. * Ability to organize and write clear, concise technical reports for delivery to customers is essential. * Clear understanding of HAZUS MT and HVA Modeling * Experience with Multi-Jurisdictional Planning, Local Mitigation Planning, and State Hazard Mitigation Planning efforts * Experience with Tribal Hazard Mitigation Planning is a plus. * Ability to master new concepts and deliver quality results at an accelerated pace against tight deadlines. * Functional usage of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Project. * Knowledge of FEMA Mitigation Grant Programs and associated regulations.Experience with the following are highly desirable:*
  • Global Match * Property Elevation * Acquisition under HMGP (Hazard Mitigation Grant Program), CDBG (Community Block Grant), PDM (Pre-Disaster Mitigation), Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA)* Community Rating System (CRS)* Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP)* Grant and sub grant management * Application closeout * Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) with the FEMA approved software V 5.2 or higher * Participating in the G318 Mitigation Planning Workshop for Local Governments (or equivalent) is preferred.

    Qualifications:
    * Knowledge and experience with 404 Mitigation is required. * Hazard Mitigation Plan experience is a must (Review and Writing)* US Citizenship required * Associates degree or equivalent experience* A minimum of two (2) references from past HMGP work must be provided. * Two (2) writing samples will be requestedCode: RBE
