The Haul superintendent manages the aggregate haul department for production, haul, and coordinating raw material deliveries with the Logistics Manager and Plant Manager for daily and weekly operations. They will also supervise several employee-owners that work under the paving division.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and delegates Austin owned vehicles/employees daily for dispatch of material
Manage and delegates outside owner/operators daily for dispatch of materials
Determine freight pay amounts for various projects within the paving department
Order raw material through various suppliers within the Texas/Oklahoma area
Oversee and coordinate with repairs of internal vehicles, as well as manage general trucking policies for all haulers (insurance permits, etc.)
Coordinate safety requirements with all Employee-Owners in the Haul Department
Coordinate vehicles to ensure all safety regulations are current and approved.
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Ability to work Monday through Friday, and occasional Saturdays, days, nights, and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines
Other duties as assigned
Minimum 5+ years of experience in hauling operations
JWS and Trackit software experience a huge plus
Must have a strong commitment to jobsite safety
Diligent in demonstrating safe work practices
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge and experience
5 or more years' experience in managing DOT Driver Files
Construction industry experience strongly preferred
Highly organized with a sense of urgency
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
A track record in creative problem solving
Ability to travel 30% within Texas
Must be bilingual English/Spanish
Must be able and willing to work extended hours as needed
