HashiCorp Engineer

The HashiCorp Engineer will assist in building solutions utilizing HashiCorp products (Terraform, Vault, Consul, and Packer). This person will have a strong understanding of Software Development, Automation, and Orchestration Technologies. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience working as a software engineer. You will be an automation master and you are familiar with deployment tools such as Vagrant, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Saltstack, and Ansible.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with DevOps and cloud infrastructure architects and engineers to design, implement and manage secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure environments

  • Assist customers in selecting, implementing, and tuning configuration management technology platforms

  • Work with customers to validate and troubleshoot existing Continuous Integration and Configuration Management practices, and make recommendations for improvements and optimization

  • Work with customers to validate existing infrastructure security, performance, availability, and make recommendations for improvements and optimization

  • Experience with deploying and configuring Vault and/or Terraform Enterprise in a highly-available environment

  • Ability to support day-2 operations for Terraform Enterprise and/or Vault Enterprise including tasks like backup, monitoring, and adoption

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field

  • 7+ years of relevant, engineering experience in a large enterprise environment

  • 2+ years experience with HashiCorp Enterprise tools (Terraform, Vault, Consul)

  • Cloud infrastructure expertise (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated technical leadership

  • Linux System Administration, ideally CentOS, Red Hat or SuSE

  • Experience operating and maintaining production systems in a Linux and public cloud environment

  • Familiar with on-prem VMware deployments desirable

  • Strong working experience with Windows Server and PowerShell

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols and applications

  • Great communication skills coupled with a strong desire for personal development and learning

  • Understanding of PKI systems desirable

  • Ability to write Terraform code and Vault/Terraform policies

  • Good understanding of distributed systems

  • Client relationship skills imperative

  • Understanding of scaling technologies and solutions

  • Comfortable designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift or other container infrastructure

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES * Project Management Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new and enhanced application requests. Identify the appropriate resources needed to complete small projects. Support the communication between internal and external parties on project related issues and developments. Participate in developing and managing project plans. Determine the scope and complexity of small to midsized projects. Work with cross functional teams. * Development Analyze, design, implement, and maintain moderately complex systems that greatly improves clinical care and patient management. Support system testing. Document testing outcomes. Work to develop technical solutions. Work to design, write, and prepare complete user and technical documentation. Analyze existing documentation and provide corrections and enhancement. Utilizes Development lifecycle process, operating procedures and documentation to implement and support system solutions. * Production Support Provide technical support and problem resolution assistance for production and process issues. Troubleshoot and decipher error messages. Identify required resources to resolve minor to midsized issues. Utilizes appropriate Change Control methods to implement system solutions. Serve as a resource person for and as a liaison between Cincinnati Children's departments and Information Services. Support departmental efforts to improve customer satisfaction. Evaluate and monitor system performance and functionality to avoid potential issues as well as gathering information for future development needs or feasibility studies. Participate in on-call support rotation and handle incident resolution, problem determination and resolution during that time. * Customer Service Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of Service Level Agreements for incident management and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer-centered incident management and support. Adhere to and promote continual adoption of change management policies and procedures. Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.
