Your role and responsibilities:
Job Summary - As a Mechanical Assembler you will build and repair electrical and pneumatic (gas) measurement lances, cables, connectors, contact blocks and other hardware products. This includes assembling, repairing, and testing as well as validating assemblies and components. This position is also responsible for delivering finished product to customer locations at steel mills and foundries and monitoring inventory at these locations.
Take steel poles that are from 1/2" to 2" in diameter by up to 12 feet long and thread and tap one or both ends (to which a screw-on connector will attach), weld or attach handles, and bend the poles at the proper position and angle according to customer specifications.
Measure and cut 4-core, 16-gage wire cable to the specified length, strip and crimp cable wires to a connector and/or contact block and run the cable through the pole.
Test product for continuity using a testing fixture and validate assemblies and components.
Troubleshoot and repair existing poles that have been damaged and returned from the customer.
Shrink wrap handles, affix proper labels, and complete proper documentation.
Drive company sprinter van one or two times a week to deliver hardware products to steel mill and foundry customers generally located in WI, IL, IN, IA, and OH, but could include other locations. Load and unload material on and off van and place materials inside specified areas at customer locations.

What is required for this role:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic knowledge of tooling/fabrication machinery (lathe, drill press, thread and tap machine, wet saw etc.)
Basic knowledge of aluminum and MIG welding/brazing
Able to use small hand and power tools
Able to read and work from mechanical drawings
Good basic math and measurement skills (be able to measure within 1/16" and convert standard to metric and vice versa with conversion calculator)
Able to:
Process and follow verbal directions and written instructions
Read, write, and understand English fluently
Communicate clearly and effectively
Record information
Work closely with others as part of a team and independently
Acceptable driving record and valid Class D driver's license; Able and willing to drive sprinter van in busy city traffic and navigate large steel mill campuses to make product deliveries to Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio regions (day trips-no overnights required)
Work 5, 8-hour days, Monday through Friday. 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on production days and 5 a.m. start on delivery days. Able to modify work schedule to meet company needs. Volunteer for overtime and additional assignments willingly
Frequently required to stand and walk. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; grasp, pinch, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must lift and/or move 50 lbs. regularly. Good physical dexterity, stamina and vision
