Microsoft's hardware teams incubate advanced technologies and build deep partnerships with internal research, product planning, and marketing teams. Microsoft ships tens of millions of hardware products every year, including the Xbox, Surface devices, HoloLens, accessories, and much more. The Hardware Systems team, based in Redmond, is seeking a passionate and driven Business Manager to support innovative hardware projects and their teams. This person will be the liaison between teams and labs at various sites across the world and the project leadership team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or Science & Engineering field with equivalent business certifications or work experience

  • Experience with finance or accounting

  • 5+ years of business, product or program management

Preferred:

  • Business, product, or program management experience within an engineering environment

  • Technical background a strong plus

  • MBA or other higher degree, a plus

Skills:

  • Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid problem solver with excellent analytical and reporting skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to deal with ambiguity.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.

  • High level of integrity and transparency.

  • Ability to bring insight to suboptimal flows in existing business operations processes, and a drive to improve them over time.

  • Capability to build partnerships of trust across internal organizations (inside and outside of Azure).

  • Familiarity with internal tools for data retrieval and reporting, such as HeadTrax; recruiting tools such as ICIMS and Dynamics; and engineering process tools such as ADO is a plus

This is a business-critical role that will have a direct and significant impact on one of the most unique teams at Microsoft, and requires a candidate who:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial management: lead financial management for the business (Opex, Headcount, COGS) including budgeting, execution and compliance.

  • Operational Management: Assist the team in the day-to-day operational management of the program in partnership with the GPMs.

  • Productivity: Identifying, documenting, and following-up on issues, and helping drive closure to ensure overall productivity.

  • ROB/Planning: Lead and coordinate the organizational and business ROB (including FY Calendar, FY planning activities, LT meetings) while driving process improvements.

  • Special Initiatives: Lead special projects on behalf of the project leadership team, as relevant. This can include partner engagements and driving cross org initiatives.

  • Note that given the global scope of our team, limited travel may be required as needed.
