Job Description: Summary
As the Hardware Engineering Manager you will lead a dedicated group of Firmware, FPGA, and Electrical Engineers within BD Biosciences R&D. As part of the engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, developing and managing efforts to ensure the development of multiple, concurrent projects. You will initiate, coordinate, and execute technology and product refresh projects in close collaboration with other functional teams, and develop novel solutions and product concepts to support the rapidly growing cytometry market. You will leverage external vendors and design houses to develop new solution for our current portfolio.
Responsible for the specification, design, and implementation of firmware for embedded systems within a broadly defined project frame.
Manage development project activities, milestones, and deliverables; keep projects on schedule and on budget.
Work with the project core team and helps to establish and maintain product requirements, specifications and timeline.
Lead and develop the engineering team.
Identify industry product development partners and establish technical evaluation relationships.
Provide R&D input on CAPA reports and post product release support to BD Manufacturing in Malaysia.
Manage, lead and develop people. Guide others toward shared goals, providing the development, coaching, feedback and resources to accomplish tasks.
Implement software development process in compliance with Diagnostic Systems policies and procedures. Support Documentation and Verification and Validation activities.
Build and nurture a high performing and engaged team.
Work with other engineering disciplines to implement and refine the firmware/hardware/chemistry interface.
Education and Experience:
Requires minimum of an MS degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 8 years relevant work experience.
Minimum of 4 years' experience in embedded micro-controller based product design, systems engineering, software architectural design, and project management.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in people management; prior people leadership role.
Knowledge of software development standards such as IEC 62304, applies coding standards to ensure structured and robust firmware generation.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated success in product development, preferably for high volume optoelectronic applications and/or consumer or medical electronics.
Successful candidates should be creative and self-directed with demonstrated success in translating design concepts to prototypes and taking the product to volume production.
Ability to lead multi-discipline engineering project teams.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
