Internship through the end of the year (Fall Internship)

The purpose/function of this position is to provide engineering support to the Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) hardware systems. This position will support primary engineers in the development and sustaining of hardware scheduled for deployment.

Typical job functions will include assisting in the processing of hardware to the ISS, participation in the design, development and modification of existing/acquired hardware, and various status functions to the subtask and Task Order Manager. Supports a wide variety of hardware solutions and this position will be required to transition between the majorities of engineering disciplines on a weekly basis.

Required -A current BS degree path in Engineering or in a related field

Desired- A BS degree path in Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautics or Biomedical Engineering.

Previous working experience with NASA or a NASA contractor



Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Ability to read Engineering Drawing

Desired Familiarity with NASA or DoD work Instruction

Our Intern Program At the beginning of your internship, we discuss with you the skills we hope you will develop and encourage you to keep a record of your progress. All interns are supported by a line manager who sets your objectives with you and ensures you have the training and equipment to succeed. A detailed and focused appraisal process is essential to ensure that you get the most from your experience. Your line manager will monitor your progress and discuss it with you throughout the internship, and specifically during a mid-internship appraisal. This helps you to see where you are succeeding and what else is needed before the end of the internship. AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY * Civil -- Structural Engineering * Electrical Engineering * Mechanical Engineering * Chemical Engineering As an Engineering Intern with the Oil & Gas Sector of TRC, depending upon your discipline, your experience will include many of the following: * Learn to develop and manage project scope, budgets and schedules. * Gain exposure to compliance matters at the federal, state and local levels by studying existing codes and ordinances as related to the application of engineering and design principals. * Work with structural and civil engineering and drafting personnel to work as a team and further projects and provide technical guidance to a design team. * Review the work of other structural / civil engineering and drafting personnel to assure accuracy and conformance to design requirements. * Perform individual, routine tasks on a project to learn good engineering practices and procedures. * Performs tasks involving routine engineering calculations and the preparation of basic sketches in support of engineering activities. * Gathers and records information to be used in writing specifications and material requisitions. * Organizes and tracks various project activities i.e. material requisitions, vendor submittals etc. * Prepares tables and written material for routine technical reports. * Gathers, organizes and maintains data sets for specific segments of a project. * Learn discipline specific software packages. * Interfaces with the design/drafting group. * Performs assigned tasks with constant, vigilant, attention to safe work practices. * Reviews vendor drawings and bids to determine compliance with specifications. * Prepares information to be shown on drawings and reviews drawings when completed. * Undertakes assignments that require some independent work and responsibilities. * Interfaces with client's engineering representatives. * Develop the ability to originate mechanical designs. * Gain experience with materials and equipment associated with produced fluid, refined product and natural gas pipelines and pipeline facilities including but not limited to: compressor stations, meter and regulator stations, and pump stations is preferred but not required. * Gain experience with sizing, selection and design of vessels, tanks, pumps and compressors is preferred but not required. As required, these position may be assigned to a field office to encounter industry methods and equipment, and to contribute to project construction support or field related engineering functions. In such cases, duties will be specific in nature, under the direct supervision of a more experienced engineer.
