Responsibilities

The Hardware Engineer will research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment for government customer both on-site and at development facilities. Additionally, the Hardware Engineer will analyze equipment specifications and process requirements to conceive a practical design and determines feasibility from technical and economic perspectives. Supported activities and functions will include Release and Development Support, Software and Hardware Management and Control, and Services Support.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.

  • Under general direction, designs and develops equipment, processes and systems that involve data networks, communications, and display.

  • Coordinates and consults with research engineers or scientists and customer representatives to resolve design problems.

  • Develops and maintains technical procedures, documentation and manuals.

  • Compiles and analyzes operational data and directs tests to establish standard for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes.

  • May supervise the work of technicians and technologists who provide technical support.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor's w/ 5-7 yrs. experience, Master's w/ 3-5 yrs. experience, Or related equivalent experience w/o a degree

  • Any Cloud-related Professional certification(s): [e.g., i. Professional Cloud Solutions Architect (PCSA) ii. AWS Solutions Architect (Professional)], iii. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, iv. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (Associate), v. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (Professional), vi. AWS Certified Big Data (Specialty)]

  • DIA systems experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • STEM degree (e.g., computer science, management information systems, systems engineering).

  • Experience using Agile systems implementation methodologies.

  • ITSM professional certification

VIEW JOBS 3/19/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-17T00:00 The SIGINT Technology Center (STC) is where Technology and Teamwork come together to meet the unique needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. The qualified applicant will join a technical team which supports STC programs ranging from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) SIGINT payloads and data link development to OCONUS/CONUS mission/maintenance support. STC work includes system design, engineering development, system integration, hands-on build and test, field operations and maintenance, training, and production. The engineer in this position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design and integration of complex electronic systems into air and ground platforms. Responsibilities include system design, component assembly & testing, system trouble-shooting, problem reporting and root cause analysis & resolution. The ideal candidate will also gather customer feedback and participate in design reviews and system documentation as necessary in support of new system designs. The candidate must work well with customers, contractors, and a multi-disciplined design team to ensure mission success. The primary NGC work location is in Chantilly, VA. Occasional travel to other CONUS customer sites and test areas will be required. This position may be filled as a level 2 or 3. Basic Qualifications: * Level 2:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience or a Masters degree with no experience required. * Level 3:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience or a Masters degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience * An active Secret clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. * Experience with hardware and system design, integration and testing including verification and validation Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with RF systems and cabling * Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems * Experience debugging C/C and bash/python scripts at a high level * Experience writing shell scripts and interfacing hardware components * UAV/Aircraft Integration and Testing * Experience in the operations and maintenance of SIGINT/Geolocation systems. * Network Architecture Design/Development * Knowledge of communications theory (standard interfaces and protocols, networking, SATCOM, data links, cellular, etc…) * Documenting systems design, systems analysis, system interface design, and systems integration * Network/Computer System Administration * Interface effectively with users, customers, management, and other engineering personnel * Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills * Possess strong verbal and written communications skills * Strong interdisciplinary problem solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques * Active TS/SCI Clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
