Job summary

In this role you will work closely with Product Marketing, and Industrial Design to create innovative solutions for cost effective, high volume consumer electronic devices. Collaborate with partners and vendors from the design phase through production ramp. Show your expertise and inventiveness in embedded systems design, combining the results with output from the mechanical and SW teams. Select the right components to bring your designs to life and apply your capabilities towards tackling challenges throughout the product life-cycle.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and implement Embedded Systems and Peripherals containing features such as SBC, SoC, optical sensors, audio amps, analog and digital interface circuitry, power supply design, and radio.

  • Support designs from concept through production

  • Work with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical assemblies into industrial designs

  • Supervise PCB layouts with external vendors

  • Validate hardware and debug any issues

  • Identify and validate electrical components

  • Work with Firmware to develop system bring up strategies

  • Work with Manufacturing to develop test strategies

  • Documenting design via PLM including the creation of rework and assembly documentation

A day in the life

As a hardware engineer you will engage with an experienced, cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You will work closely with internal team members, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, design, execution, and test.

About the team

The Blink HW Dev team is responsible for all hardware aspects of the devices being sold under the Blink brand, from concept to mass production. We work closely with product marketing and program management to ensure that the final design is up to our high standards.

The team is made up of talented ME's, EE's and test engineers all dedicated to getting things done correctly, quickly, and economically.


  • MSEE with at least 2 years of experience or BSEE with at least 5 years of experience in consumer product design

  • Experience with embedded system level design including circuit design, system integration and debug

  • Experience with multiple technologies such as SoC, SBC, optical sensors, RF interfacing, power supply design, audio amplifiers, analog and digital interface circuitry

  • Experience leading and driving design development from schematic capture through PCB layout and assembly


  • Track record of delivering high volume consumer electronics products

  • Deep understanding of high speed digital design

  • Deep understanding of all components used in mobile devices such as SOCs, PMICs, memories, sensors, and various digital interfaces

  • Working knowledge of rechargeable and non-rechargeable battery technologies and their supporting battery management systems

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including DFM, DFT, DFA for consumer electronic products

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and documentation skills

You will be matched with a mentor who will coach you on our tools, technology, manufacturing process, and industry in an on-the-job learning environment.</p><p>Our Project Leads manage the technical development of device interface projects from concept to delivery. This is a direct customer facing role. Using skills acquired through training and your experience, you will obtain a deep understanding of the customer's requirements and guide the effort of turning them into functional test interface hardware, while managing resources, schedules, changes, and customer expectations along the way.
