Who you'll work with

UCS Servers / Hardware Engineering Servers

The Computing Systems Products Group, through The Unified Computing Systems creative architecture, helps to enable the fully unified data center. We architect the next generation unified computing systems, including compute, storage, network, visualization and management into a single platform. The team designs, implements, and delivers Computer industry leading computing system products. You will be part of the dynamic and passionate team working on exciting projects.

What you'll do In this highly visible role as a Lead Hardware Engineer:

  • Lead system design on computing system products

  • Prioritize and translate high level requirements into actionable milestones

  • You will drive product from concept to production

  • Participate in all stages of architecture, design, validation and support of computing system products

  • Coordinate and contribute to engineering deliverables including specifications and test plans

  • Hands-on engineering efforts for system bring up and validation in the lab

  • Interact, lead and address challenging technical problems with multi-functional teams

  • Act as technical liaison to key suppliers for the product and technical perspectives

  • Lead decision making to resolve technical tradeoff, operational and business considerations

Who you are

You are a Hardware Engineer with 4+ years of related work experience with a broad mix of technologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of 4+ years of experience with BSEE, MSEE

  • Experience with Compute Servers, Storage Appliance, Network Switches and PCIe Adapters.

  • Demonstrated experience working with ODMs and overseas cross functional teams

  • Current and/or prior experience with Intel x86 products desired. AMD EPYC/ARM product experience is a plus.

  • Experience with design tools including Cadence Concept, and Allegro is a must.

  • Familiar with high-speed serial interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet and Fiber Channel

  • Familiar with memory and DDR protocols

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with high-speed (>=25G) system design, signal integrity issues, and power distribution techniques

  • Experience with lab bring up and design validation

  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines, including software, BIOS, BMC, Diagnostics and QA

  • Demonstrated experience with shipping products.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Prior experience leading programs is highly desirable

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
