The Applied Architecture team at Xilinx is looking for a design engineer to architect and implement domain-specific hardware accelerators. Application domains include machine learning, digital signal processing, and networking.

Through applications that we publish in conferences, we demonstrate hardware and software design best practices to use Xilinx products effectively. What distinguishes our work from a typical design team is that we apply lessons learned from our projects to architect next-generation products.

We are looking for people who are curious, imaginative, analytical, and persistent. We enjoy working with people who can state problems and propose solutions analytically in a collaborative environment.

Although this position is nominally a hardware position because our work does require hardware design skills, we are particularly interested in people who enjoy creating hardware that is intuitive to program.

  • Communicating technical ideas clearly in person and in writing

  • Ability to simplify hardware and software design for ease of use

  • Ability to collect data and feedback to make good design decisions quickly

  • Computer architecture

  • Micro-architecture and logic design

  • Translating algorithms to parallel hardware

  • Programming in hardware description languages such as Verilog and VHDL

  • Programming using MATLAB, Python Numpy, C , TensorFlow, and PyTorch

  • Firmware development

  • Design for verification and debug

  • Physical design and timing closure

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in CS or EE

The Director of Hardware Engineering will be responsible for leading ASIC verification team, contributing to the development and successful execution of the chip to support the ASIC group of Hardware System Verification (HSV) division of Cadence Design. The individual must be a dynamic "hands-on" leader who will oversee all verification aspects of ASIC development and delivery, while growing the team. The Director will also identify and lead major initiatives as we continue to scale up and innovate. Must have a strong technical background leading verification for large, highly complex chip projects. The duties and responsibilities of the Director of Hardware Engineering include: * Lead a talented team of highly accomplished internationally dispersed verification hardware engineers to execute the chip development strategy for premier HSV products. * Oversee and be accountable for all chip verification project execution, both pre-silicon and post-silicon. * Work as a team with peers and across organizational boundaries to build alignment and resolve issues. * Participate in the definition of the technology strategy and roadmap to support the business goals. * Drive strategic technological innovation. * Develop and grow the team locally and internationally. * Model and reinforce the Cadence Design culture and core values. * Act as an agent of change to instill the culture of high performance, collaboration and innovation. Qualifications * Experience leading large engineering teams to build highly complex chips * Experience managing geographically dispersed engineering teams * Large sense of accountability * Deep managerial experience recruiting, developing, and retaining a high-performance team. * Ability to think strategically and also to proactively roll up sleeves and get things done. * Ability to actively motivate and inspire. A true coach and mentor. * Ability and desire to work collaboratively. * Demonstrated strong analytical mindset and ability to think outside the box. * Must be passionate about technology and highly technical in her own right. * A minimum of 15 years in a related position * PhD or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
