Hands On Atlanta school-based AmeriCorps members provide tutoring, enrichment, and family engagement to more than 1,000 K-8 students attending Title I schools in the greater Atlanta area. Major areas of responsibility include:

Tutor small groups of students with the goal of growing students' proficiency in reading and/or math. Track student progress through maintaining detailed and accurate records of tutoring sessions. Submit timely progress reports of student data using Hands On Atlanta's internal software and assist collecting broader student data sets as needed.

Support teachers and school administrators by assisting students, co-planning lessons, leading learning activities, and participating in school events. Promote and conduct outreach for Discovery, our Saturday enrichment program and attend Discovery and engage with community volunteers up to 10 Saturdays over the school year. Half-time members earn a living stipend of $8,000; members may qualify for childcare assistance, loan deferment for federal student loans, as well as EBT benefits.

Upon completion of the 900 hour requirement, members will be eligible for the Segal Education Award of $3,047. Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree or are currently pursuing bachelor's Volunteer/community service experience in schools and/or nonprofits, and with children Demonstrated leadership ability Adaptability and perseverance in the face of obstacles Ability to maintain positive and respectful rapport with students, parents, and community members Effective communication skills, including comfort with public speaking Members must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to navigate in and around greater Atlanta. VIEW JOBS 4/3/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-02T00:00 AmeriCorps Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coaches will serve to assist students in developing and enhancing SEL skills in a caseload model. Members will be placed at an elementary or middle school to coach and mentor 20-30 students and will facilitate activities centered upon social emotional learning, community engagement, and academic growth. The goal is to help students develop essential social/emotional skills including self-awareness, conflict resolution, communication, confidence building, peer group navigation, and impulse control. Members will meet with case load students regularly, maintain data tracking, and collaborate with school counselors, school social workers, administrators, and teachers. Members may also support Hands On Atlanta's enrichment program (Discovery) program on select Saturday mornings. Full-time members earn a living stipend of $15,000 as well as health, vision, and dental benefits; members may qualify for childcare assistance, loan deferment for federal student loans, as well as EBT benefits. Upon completion of the 1,700 hour requirement, members will be eligible for the Segal Education Award of $6,095.00.
