Position Description:
Location: UAB Highlands
Schedule: Flexi Day Shift
Under general/direct supervision and according to UAHSF established policies and procedures, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of occupational therapy modalities for specific age and patient population of treatment as prescribed by a licensed physician. Administers treatments and occupational agents as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate from an American Occupational Therapy accredited academic program.
Successful completion of the AOTA Registration Examination. Previous responsible work experience in clinical area of expertise; documented in fieldwork appraisals. Minimum of one year experience in hand therapy required or completion of a three (3) month internship at UAB Medicine's Hand Therapy clinic.
Preferred: Five years of clinical upper extremity experience.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Required: Current AOTA registration.
Current ALOTA license. Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Preferred: CHT or actively working on obtaining certification.
