POSITION TITLE: Hall Monitor

DESCRIPTION: To provide supervision in the halls and to assist in having students in their designated area on time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certification: N/A

  2. Education:

A. Required- High School Diploma or Equivalent

  1. Experience:

A. Required- Experience working with children

B. Preferred- Experience working with children in a school setting; Bilingual in Spanish

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of building rules and enforces the rules consistently

  2. Monitors student movement in the hallways and stairways

  3. Submits discipline write-ups or incident reports at the time of the incident

  4. Refers chronic or severe incidents to the Principal or Assistant Principal

  5. Models appropriate verbal and physical behaviors which include proper attire

  6. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal

Technical: Ability to effectively use a two-way radio

Interpersonal: Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community. Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Empathetic, humanistic and open-minded. Strong sense of teamwork. Strategic thinker. Must be able to work harmoniously with the community, students, parents, staff, and administration, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.

Physical Effort: Work requires handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods. Also requires being on your feet the majority of the day, constant walking, and frequently going up and down stairs.

Working Conditions: Some exposure to definitely disagreeable elements may exist.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work Week: Monday through Friday

Work Year: 176 Days per year

Work Hours: 7:40 AM - 3:10 PM

Salary Range: Minimum $15.33 per hour
