Seeking an experienced Hadoop Administrator/Engineer to operate and maintain the Hortonworks Hadoop Data Platform (HDP) portion of the IT infrastructure for the Health Care Fraud Prevention Partnership's Trusted Third Party (HFPP-TTP) program for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. HFPP-TTP's infrastructure supports the studies of fraud, abuse and waste within a secure environment that includes in its technology suite a custom developed portal (based on the elgg framework), Open Source applications, Symantec VIP multifactor authentication, Pentaho, Hadoop and SAS analytics tools.

In this role, the Hadoop Administrator will report to the IT Technology Manager and be responsible for performing tasks in adherence with the HFPP-TTP Operations and Maintenance Manual (and updating it as necessary) to configure, operate, maintain, report on, and achieve optimal utilization of the Hadoop Data Platform (consisting of both the Hadoop Distributed File System HDFS, and the internal HIVE schemas and tables), Kerberos authentication, and associated HIVE utilities (e.g., Spoon and Kitchen).

Reviewing Hadoop configurations, making recommendations for improvements (such as provisioning data nodes and virtual storage), and implementing approved changes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field + a minimum 9 years of related experience, or similar Master degree + a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • Understanding of how data is stored in HIVE (schemas, tables, and options for partitioning and compressing), and ability to provide detailed recommendations to data analysts for improving data storage within the database

  • Integrating HDP with Kerberos authentication; using the Ambari console for managing the Ranger KMS (Key Management Service) and other related services

  • Designing and implementing back up techniques for maintaining data integrity of the HDFS files and HIVE data for Disaster Recovery planning

  • Maintaining project documentation

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Managing big data (in excess of 500TB) using the Hortonworks Hadoop Data Platform (HDP) in either an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) or PaaS (Platform as a Service) cloud environment

  • Additional experience with healthcare applications would be a plus

  • Rotating HDP service accounts

  • Monitoring space utilization and making proactive recommendations for maximizing disk usage

  • The Hadoop Administrator/Engineer will be part of a larger team of system administrators, as well as cross-functional teams, and should have good communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical members in a collaborative work environment.
