Position description The division of medical oncology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is is conducting a search for a full-time thoracic medical oncologist with an interest in clinical and translational research, to join our medical oncology practice. Mayo Clinic is among the leading cancer care providers in the United States and is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. Mayo Clinic physicians diagnose and treat more than 1,000 patients annually with newly diagnosed lung cancers, 180 with mesotheliomas and 80 with thymic malignancies. The Mayo medical oncology group in Rochester is known for its extensive involvement in the preclinical and clinical development of new lung cancer therapies as well as an extensive program involved in the identification and translation of novel host and tumor biomarkers. Lung cancer clinical trials are conducted in a variety of forums, including in collaboration with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, the Mayo UM1, and the NCI Experimental Therapeutics-Clinical Trials Network (ET-CTN). The ideal candidate for this position is an MD or MD/PhD board-certified/board-eligible medical oncologist with an interest in thoracic malignancies and additionally has an interest in clinical and/or translational research. Allocation of clinical and non-clinical time will be based on the successful applicants experience and any grant funding. The position includes participation in education efforts for the ACGME-accredited hematology/oncology fellowship.
