Guthrie is excited to announce that we have partnered with TC3 to sponsor tuition for select students in the 4-week CNA program. Limited sponsored spaces will be available for the June 2024 class, and we are currently accepting applications. Classes are held at TC3 in Dryden (clinical locations are determined by TC3 and are normally held at areas around the school)

Schedule: This is a Full Time 1 Month program which begins June 3rd and finishes June 25th.

Days/Times:

Classes run Monday through Friday

8:00am-6:00pm

Requirements of the program:

  • Must be 17 years or older

  • A minimum of a high school graduate, working on a G.E.D., or reading at a 9th-grade level

  • All applicants must apply to the program on the Guthrie website as well as successfully complete the interview process.

  • You must also be accepted into the TC3 program which has a deadline to apply by 4/22/24.

  • You must hold a pre-diem Resident Assistant position (Resident Care Facility Department) at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center while going to school.

  • You will be hired as CNA at GCMC once you have successfully completed the CNA training program and are certified and are expected to commit to working for GCMC in a CNA role for 1 year after becoming certified.

  • If you drop out of the program or are not successful in completing the program, you may be subject to repaying money on a prorated basis.

Sign on Bonus up to $2,500 for those that fill a full time CNA role.

Summary

The purpose of this position is to promote choice dignity, and expedient services by assisting in the performance of non-direct care duties and tasks that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This position assists our Certified Nursing Assistants by performing tasks that enhance the resident's quality of care and quality of life.

Experience

  • Experience working with the elderly population preferred, but not required. Must have no findings of abuse, mistreatment, neglect or misappropriation of property/funds.

Education

  • High School graduate or GED.preferred

  • Experience as a personal care aide or home health aide preferred but not required.

Essential Functions

  • Answers call bells and provides assistance as able. Will request nursing to provide any assistance that requires hands on care.

  • Makes bed and keeps rooms organized

  • Passes clean linen

  • Assists with passing meal trays for residents on a regular diet

  • Transports residents to Activity programs, therapies, beauty shop and other destinations

  • Provides 1:1 supervision of residents as assigned

  • Checks on residents regularly to determine if they need assistance.

  • Cleans wheelchairs

  • Facilitates activities on unit during times of no planned programs.

  • Assure ice water is available on units

  • Reports to nursing staff any resident accidents/ incidents

  • Reports incidents of potential abuse, neglect, mistreatment to the assigned nurse.

  • Emergency Preparedness-Demonstrates working knowledge and understanding of emergency

preparedness plans and operations.

  • Aware of and actively participates in emergency preparedness procedures and operations.

  • Aware of and actively participates in Code Red, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Green, and Silver drills and actual events.

Facility Alerts- Fire Alarm, Incident Command Team Activation, Medical Alerts- Code Blue, Code Blue Jr., Medical Response, Rapid response, and Code OB, Security Alerts- Missing Person, Assistance Required, Armed Intruder, Restricted Access and General Alerts and actual events.

  • Documentation-Completely and accurately documents patient/resident care activities and response in a timely manner in accordance with facility policy.

  • Documents on a regular, real time basis all patient/resident care activities in accordance to policy.

  • Infection Control-Provide safe and effective patient/resident care in accordance with hospital Infection Control policy and procedures.

  • Wears appropriate PPE as warranted.

  • Follows hand hygiene protocol.

  • Follows all isolation procedures as appropriate.

Other duties as assigned

The pay for this position ranges from $16.00-$22.37 per hour.
