Guidance Counselor

213 days per year. 16 days before organization day, 13 days

after last faculty day

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated ability in how to build a master schedule
• Indiana Teacher License - School Counselor
• High School experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Graduation Pathways.
• Proven knowledge of and ability to use computers with guidance programs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with master schedule and scheduling of all students
• Implements all corporation policies as they relate to student/parent concerns
• Counsel individuals and small groups of students toward social and emotional growth
• Coordinates counseling services with outside agencies
• Coordinates College and Career Readiness programming which could include 21st Century scholars and College and Career Readiness activities
• Assists in the coordination and implementation of school testing
• Guide students through the development of educational and career plans
• Assists students in evaluating their skills in order to help them determine what they need to do next to achieve their goals
• Advises students (and parents) about diploma requirements and educational programs they need for particular careers and college
• Provides assistance with organizing-coordinating College and Career Events and 21st Century Scholar Events
• Coordinates homebound instruction program and acts as a liaison between school and private help agencies
• Assists in determining student academic placementCoordinates the selection, training and monitoring of students for the Peer Mediation Program
• Participates in and assists with the intervention/crisis team process
• Attendance at ACR Committee meetings
• Development and coordination of 504 plans
• Creates and delivers Classroom Guidance activities such as organization skills, note taking, calculating GPA, keeping track of credits, and others as needed.
• Performs other duties in conjunction with corporation counselors &/or assigned by the Assistant to the Principal for Guidance or the Principal

• Principal, Assistant Principals & Assistant Principal for Guidance
