Opportunity:
The Guest Services department seeks a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join our team and provide best-in-class customer service to Holden Forests & Gardens guests and members. This person will help welcome guests to the grounds while answering general inquiries, promote retail sales and contribute to a positive team atmosphere. We are seeking a team member with a positive can-do attitude that leads to successful team, work superb customer service and wants to do meaningful work in an organization that values diversity of thoughts and perspectives. Position Details:
A part-time, seasonal, non-exempt position
Approximately 24-32 hours per week
Training is provided
Must have a flexible schedule to work either day on the weekend, two weekdays, occasional evenings, and occasional holidays
The Holden Arboretum is closed most Mondays
Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities of the Guest Services Representative include, but are not limited to:
Support Holden Forests & Gardens' mission, vision, and values
Actively welcome and receive guests, providing prompt and courteous service and orientation of the property, programs and events that support the mission and success of Holden Forests & Gardens
Provide friendly, clear, and courteous customer service to encourage return visitation
Process prompt and accurate sales transactions for merchandise using the computerized cash register with Altru, the organization's point-of-sale system
Manage customer concerns-communicates effectively through email, radio and verbally
Conduct inventory spot checks, cycle counts and daily activity reports
Restock inventory as needed
Maintain the appearance, cleanliness and safety of public spaces, staff workspaces, and facilities
Ensure safety practices are being followed
Provide prompt follow-up and relay information to supervisor as needed
Support the Holden Arboretum Guest Services team
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 products, specifically Teams, Outlook (email and calendar), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or the ability to learn
Drive Holden Forests & Gardens' golf carts on the property as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
Demonstrate a passion for people and nature
High school graduate or equivalent, required
Customer service experience or desire to learn
Strong verbal communication skills and interest in working directly with guests
Experience with cash handling, telephone etiquette, and retail experience or the desire and the ability to learn
A positive attitude, willingness to learn
Ability to be self-motivating when working independently
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays
Must have reliable transportation
Valid driver's license an acceptable motor vehicle record, required
Physical Requirements:
Stand and sit for extended periods of time
Transporting oneself by foot over a variety of terrain that may be wet, slippery, uneven, or rocky
Effective vision and hearing
Ability to type on a keyboard
Hand and arm dexterity
Ability to ascend and descend stairs, kneel, bend, stoop, grab, and reach
Lifting up to 15 pounds on a repetitive basis daily, occasionally 25 pounds
