Candidate will be responsible for taking guest in-room dining orders. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Will perform all control and revenue related paperwork. Office and/or Food and Beverage service experience preferred. Must be able to perform Server shifts as needed. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays.
Take guests' Room Service phone orders.
Follow prepared scenario to encourage up selling.
Give the approximate time of delivery for the order.
Know and adhere to all liability laws.
Post charges to guest rooms.
Complete necessary paperwork.
Operate Point of Sale system.
Generate reports at the end of each shift; bank out.
Provide general office support (copying, faxing, etc.).
Memorize menus, specials, ingredients, preparations, prices and service times.
Attend all designated staff meetings and training sessions.
Be pleasant, smile and greet all guests, using surnames when possible.
Attend to and anticipate guests' needs.
Maintain knowledge of hotel features/services, outlets, hours of operation, etc.
Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all guest and general hotel information.
Assist in other areas as needed.
Ability to communicate fluently in English with hotel guests and employees. Ability to write extremely legibly. Ability to provide friendly, efficient and courteous service to guests. Ability work under pressure, be organized, self-motivated and work well with others. Strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests. Knowledge of hotel property and operating hours of each guest service area. Basic knowledge of Charleston and surrounding areas. Basic knowledge of food and wine. Ability to provide legible communication. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner. Ability to work effectively and relate well with senior management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the hotel. Additional foreign language skills a plus.
