DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1.The teacher should demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
2.The teacher should plan using the state's standards, the school's curriculum, effective strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students.
3.The teacher should effectively engage students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs.
4.The teacher should systematically gather, analyze, and use all relevant data to measure student academic progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods and provide timely feedback to both students and parents throughout the school year.
5.The teacher should use resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe, student-centered environment that is conducive to learning.
6.The teacher should maintain a commitment to professional ethics, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for and participate in professional growth that results in enhanced student learning.
7.The work of the teacher should result in acceptable, measurable, and appropriate student academic progress.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide appropriate therapy to eligible students, consult with teachers and other staff members, serve as a resource to faculty, and participate in Child Study Team. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1.Implements by instruction and action the District philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
2.Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; in harmony with the goals, establishes desired student performance objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to students.
3.Assesses students to determine whether desired student performance objectives are being achieved.
4.Plans, after identifying student needs, a program of study.
5.Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
6.Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and refers to appropriate specialist where need exists.
7.Evaluates, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
8.Provides an atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
9.Maintains accurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
10. Counsels with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
11.

Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
12. Attends and participates in general faculty and department meetings.
13. Cooperates with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
14. Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for handicapped students.
15. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified handicapped students.
16. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other staff members to implement behavior management programs and to provide suggestions for the student's daily activities.
17. Provides information, support and counsel to parents and family when appropriate.
18. Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning special education.
19. Participates in Child Study Team meetings to provide information, classroom observations, and diagnosis.
20. Provides information and assistance in placement of students who require residential or outside agency assist

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: The Classroom Teacher reports to the site administrator.

The Classroom Teacher will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.

QUALIFICATIONS (Dispatcher): * High School graduate or G.E.D. * Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently. * Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions. * Must have a minimum of five years experience in transportation, dispatch experience preferred. * Must have experience in planning and coordinating the work of others. * Must demonstrate the ability to coordinate and collaborate with parents, staff, and students. * Must have the ability to maintain good customer relations. * Must be knowledgeable in road and safety requirements of school bus operations. * Must have knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to automobile accidents and employees suspected to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. * Must be able to obtain (within 6 months of employment) and maintain a valid Class B Arizona State Commercial Drivers License, a valid Arizona State Bus Driver Certification, American Red Cross First Aid Certification and CPR Certification. * Must have knowledge of safe driving practices as established by the Department of Public Safety, provisions of the Arizona Motor Vehicle Code, A.S.R.S. Title 28, State of Arizona Minimum Standards for School Bus Operations, local geography of the area, and District Emergency Procedures. * Must be able to operate all types of District vehicles on any District bus route. JOB DESCRIPTION: EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Bus Driver): (Including, but not limited to the following) * Performs routine tasks to operate a multi-passenger school bus, exercising good judgment over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging students, stopping traffic, when necessary. * Assists students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe ingress and egress from vehicle including both emergency situations (including bus evacuations) and normal transport. * Transports student and teachers on field trips, (as needed) traveling to various locations 100 to 400 miles round trip (possibly requiring overnight lodging), choosing the best route and meeting time schedules for departure, and arrival. * Maintains order among students on the vehicle in accordance with established procedures ensuring safety of passengers at all time. * Follows District Policies regarding maintaining order, discipline of students and contact with Area Supervisor, other District staff and/or parents. * Attends meetings, trainings, etc. for the purpose of maintaining skills and meeting requirements of school bus certificate. * Cleans, services and maintains vehicle, both interior and exterior for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation and safety of vehicle in accordance with District Policies, taking corrective action on deficiencies found, reporting those that are beyond driver's ability to correct. * Maintains assigned vehicle with approved fuel, oil, coolant, etc. for the purpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition. * Interacts with students, teachers and staff. * Administers first aid as required. * Completes all District required paperwork. * Transports handicapped students as required. * Communicates via two-way radio. * Job location will determine specialized responsibilities.
