The National Aquarium is looking for part time Guest Engagement Interpretive Aides to support the Guest Engagement Programs. The position is responsible for formal and information interpretation, working at the Living Seashore touch pools, engaging guests at the discovery carts, formal presentations in Dolphin Discovery, and presenting with live animals.

Responsibilities for this position include enthusiastically engaging guests in a variety of interactive programming and public presentations for the Aquarium guests. A majority of the time is spent at the Living Seashore touch pools, children's discovery area, waterfront park, and roaming the exhibits. The position may assist Guest Engagement Manager and Interpretive Specialists with special projects as assigned.

Required to apply for this position, the candidate must have college course work in science or education or equivalent experience is preferred along with informal teaching experience. Strong public speaking and presentation skills are desired and an energetic personality is required.

Requires flexible hours including weekends (Saturdays & Sundays), holidays and peak season weekdays. Must be able to work a minimum of one weekend day a week. May also include some early morning or evening hours.

VIEW JOBS 5/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-08-19T00:00 22 LOCATION OF POSITION MDH, Deputy Secretariat for Public Health Services, Office of Provider Engagement and Relation, Baltimore, MD Main Purpose of Job This position leads and directs the work of the Office of Provider Engagement and Regulation (OPER). In response to the opioid overdose crisis in Maryland and in an effort to better coordinate controlled dangerous substance (CDS) prescriber support services and regulations, the Office of Controlled Substance Administration (OCSA) and the Prescription Drug Monitoring/Overdose Prevention Applied Data Programs (PDMP) were merged, effective February 4, 2019, creating OPER. OPER will continue the functions of both OCSA and PDMP with a more targeted focus on supporting prescribers and dispensers in the initiation and continuation of best practices to ensure appropriate patient use of opioids. This position manages, through subordinates, a total budget of approximately $4.8 million and a staff of approximately 40 residing in permanent State positions (23 pins) and contractual employment. OPER has the authority to issue Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) Registrations to healthcare providers, establishments and researchers who prescribe, administer, dispense, store, label, compound, import, export, manufacture, distribute, and conduct research or instructional activities with CDS. These CDS registrants are also subject to inspections by OPER staff to ensure compliance with the Controlled Substances Act. OPER is responsible for all aspects of the ongoing operations and enhancements of data systems designed to prevent and mitigate substance misuse. With other government agencies, nonprofits and professional societies, OPER develops educational initiatives on prescription drugs abuse and diversion targeted to healthcare providers and regulations, law enforcement, and the general public. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess a master's degree in public health from an accredited college or university or a current Maryland pharmacist license from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy. Candidates must also possess at least 6 years of professional experience in program planning, monitoring and analysis, including at least 1 year of experience supervising those who manage the work of others. Desired candidates should also possess: * Extensive leadership, communication, customer service and strategic planning skills; * Knowledge of PDMP processes and/or OCSA processes; * Knowledge of the health care delivery system in Maryland; and, * Knowledge of or experience with the state legislative process.
