Job Description Summary
Responsible for leading and controlling trade transaction activities for an assigned/designated team(s). Acts as the operational expert and address operational issues to ensure they are resolved in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Essential Job Functions
Approves trade transactions based on increased delegated authority; serving as a control layer. During the review process: examines, verifies, and ensures that the documents are accurate and contain appropriate language (e.g. instructions,) and adhere to external regulatory guidelines. If appropriate makes amendments to language based on authority/discretion. Specifically: requirements applicable to international trade transactions under International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Rules & Regulations, foreign trade practices and the associated legal requirements.
Analyzes workflow to enhance processes and customer service. Recommends and implements identified or developed efficiencies throughout the department.
Implements remedial corrective action on identified issues/actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Distributes/assigns incoming transactions and monitors all stages of transaction processing for Letters of Credits which include issuance, advising, amendments, negotiations (Examination of Documents), authorization to pay, transfers, confirmation and settlements /payments. Ensures that processes are completed accurately and timely.
Monitors, reviews and approves the preparation of all monetary/non-monetary entries adjustment and accounting and liability entries for settlement and payment of maturing banker's acceptances for accuracy and timeliness.
Handles investigations and provide resolution for trade issues moderately complex in nature for customer relationships of major importance.
Builds productive internal/external working relationships. Fosters functional teambuilding.
Prepares periodic reports for management and other as needed.
Other Job Duties
Requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
May have practical knowledge of project management.
Requires 5 years minimum prior relevant experience.
In depth understanding and application of Trade rules, customs, and standard banking practices.
Complete understanding and knowledge of compliance procedures and regulatory requirements applicable to international trade transactions, foreign trade practices and the associated legal requirements.
Approve or escalate all compliance exceptions as needed.
Continuous training and application of all BSA/AML compliance requirements including BSA/AML Red Flags, Customer Due Diligence and Customer activity monitoring.
Good knowledge of trade operations systems.
Experience with customer service and dispute resolution.
