FULL-TIME GSRP ASSOCIATE TEACHER

JOB GOAL: GSRP Associate Teachers are responsible for assisting the GSRP Teacher in the classroom in any manner that the GSRP Teacher requests to help assure a quality instructional program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree in Early childhood or Child Development or a valid Classroom CDA credential.

  • Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment.

  • Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, reading, writing and mathematics.

  • Meet all requirements established by the DHHS.

  • Previous classroom aide experience preferred.

  • Satisfactory criminal background check and fingerprints as required by State of Michigan Licensing.

POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist GSRP Teachers with adapting and using learning materials and equipment to meet the needs of individuals with different ability levels, learning styles or language backgrounds during whole group, small groups, and 1-on-1 time.

  • Assist in presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises in compliance with curriculum for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives.

  • Support the GSRP Teacher in the instructional process by administering classroom assignments.

  • Assist the GSRP Teacher in evaluating progress of classroom objectives.

  • Daily anecdotal note taking.

  • Input anecdotal notes in TS Gold.

  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students and communicate information to the GSRP Teacher.

  • Follow directions of supervising GSRP Teacher.

  • Assist students during small group time

  • Assist in supervision of students at arrival and dismissal, in the classroom, on the playground, during lunch. Monitor bathrooms and assist children when needed.

  • Assist in managing student discipline through use of conflict resolution.

  • Report incidents and accidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students and adults while providing a positive learning environment.

  • Assist in parent teacher conferences and home visits.

  • Use and apply Google Classroom and Seesaw

  • Participate in required Professional Development to meet the State of Michigan licensing requirements and Great Start to Quality requirements and maintain accurate records of PD hours.

  • Effectively manage time and tasks that may sometimes have severe time constraints.

  • Actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances.

  • Assist children in the development of speaking, writing, reading and listening skills.

  • Maintain licensing files for accuracy and completion and GSRP education files.

  • Assist GSRP staff with confidential interviews during recruitment time.

  • Respect the confidentiality of the GSRP Teacher, students and parents.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of daily routines, emergency procedures and familiarize yourself with the GSRP Handbook and GSRP Implementation Manual.

  • Cover any other assignments as requested by GSRP Teacher or Director.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies GOLD and Creative Curriculum. Data input is a requirement.

  • Knowledge of age appropriate activities.

  • Knowledge of basic math, grammar and punctuation.

  • Knowledge of child development and learning styles.

  • Skilled in operating classroom equipment.

  • Ability to schedule activities and collect data.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work with constant interruptions.

  • Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to work in a multicultural setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents and the community.

  • Ability to work as a team to facilitate planning activities and assist the GSRP Teacher in implementing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds in supplies which requires bending, stooping and lifting.

  • The employee must be able to use a variety of instructional materials in the classroom.

  • The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objects.

  • The employee must use keyboards, tools and other controls.

  • the employee must sit and stand for long periods of time.

  • The employee must have normal vision and hearing with or without aid.

  • The employee must be able to move about the assigned location unaided during the day.

REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Program Supervisor

SALARY: $15.11-$18.02 per hour based on experience

EFFECTIVE DATE: 2024/2025 School Year
