About the role
The growth team is in charge of expanding Upstart's reach to the millions of Americans without access to affordable credit. We are energized by the prospect of breaking ground in our field and making a positive impact on people's financial lives.
A growth hacker in spirit, you will take on the most analytical and strategic questions facing the growth team today. You'll create compelling stories, drive strategies, and uncover new opportunities by diving into numbers head first to support our two largest and most influential channels: direct mail and partnerships. Using SQL and R/Python/Excel, you will independently tackle some of Upstart's core analytics questions to drive the direction and strategy for Upstart's growth.
You're not afraid to jump into the details and are motivated by solving big analytical problems. You thrive on thinking from first principles in ambiguous situations and are excited by drawing answers from large datasets. You're excited about designing multivariate tests and analyzing their results. When you're not heads down in your latest analytics project, you're discussing growth and funnel opportunities with channel leaders, presenting metrics to top external partners, and presenting findings to our executive team.
What you'll do
Work closely with channel leads to drive high visibility analytics projects, with topics ranging from channel optimization, targeting, experiment design including multivariate creative testing and spending decisions
Continuously identify opportunities for improved channel growth and lead the development of data-driven channel strategies
Own the data, analytics, and reporting to empower the growth team and guide business decisions
Present succinct analysis to external partners as well as business leaders and executives at Upstart
What we're looking for
Comfort working as a "full-stack" growth analyst to scope projects: ability to write and functionalize code, design and run tests, surface and visualize results, monitor outcomes, and present succinct strategies as a result of analyses
High proficiency in SQL and working knowledge in at least one scripting/statistical language (R, Python preferred)
Logical and structured thinking to handle ambiguous questions with ease
Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
1+ years of experience in analytically-driven roles (analytics, consulting, finance, etc.)
Developer experience in Looker is a strong plus
