Overview

RES is seeking a skilled and dedicated Grower (Nursery Technician II) to join our team. This position will report to our Brodhead, WI office.

The mission: As a Grower, you will be responsible for the health care and maintenance of native perennials in greenhouse and outdoor settings. This is a hands-on role that requires knowledge of horticulture, propagation, and plant care techniques. What your day-to-day might look like?

  • Oversees irrigation and nutritional management of crops, including maintenance of systems and equipment

  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Scouting and identifying pests and disease, monitoring plant health and implementing control strategies

  • Monitoring and controlling environmental conditions to optimize plant growth at all stages

  • Trimming plants to manage growth and maintenance of crops with various equipment

  • Inventory Control: Manages relocation and moving plants from production to and within stock holding areas; performs inventory counts

  • Assist with seed and vegetative propagation

  • Ability to grade stock for quality assurance / quality control standards

  • Maintain meticulous record keeping for tracking history and trends

  • Collaborating with other team members to coordinate staff deployment for completion of tasks, supervising workers to complete those tasks

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Experience or strong knowledge of horticultural practices in greenhouse or nursery setting, farming, or gardening

  • Supervisory skills or the ability to lead a team of workers

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

What will make you stand out?

  • Familiarity with greenhouse or nursery operations and maintenance

  • Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting equipment issues

  • Pesticide Applicator Certification or willing to attain certification

  • Equipment operator experience (forklift, trimming tools, ATV's, etc.)
