The Position
Group Supervisors perform duties involving the education, employment, training, treatment, care and custody of juvenile offenders residing within a State Youth Training Center; maintain comprehensive records of assigned youths' program activities; and provide individual guidance pursuant to State or federal laws and regulations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Group Supervisor 3 (GS) located at the Nevada Youth Training Center (NYTC) in Elko, NV. NYTC is a 60-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth ages 12 to 18, and promotes positive self-growth, creates change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking through education, therapeutic treatment and appropriate medical and mental health services.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Incumbents coordinate and oversees group and individual treatment sessions; develop session goals, rules and content using prescribed methods; document group and individual treatment and activities; and prepare individual progress summary reports for review by the treatment team, committing judge, parole officer, legal guardian, and institutional staff.
