CaterpillarLarge Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel, gas andreman engines, ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, and the keyengine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment and cooling which are used topower oil & gas, electric power, marine, rail and Cat machineapplications around the world.

LPSD is currently looking for aGroup Manager to join our talented team at the Hodges, SC facility. As a Group Manager you will direct production in the casting of quality parts to meet established production requirements, be responsible forestablishing the vision, mission and strategic sourcing plans to ensureprofitability while attaining objectives in customer satisfaction, quality, pricing, inventory and distribution for large engine fuelsystems.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage multiple sections and reports to the facility manager

  • Own the Continuous Improvement process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated

  • Perform on-going evaluation of workloads and assists Section Managers in solving problems

  • Contributes to the total manufacturing effort by directing and controlling several operations from fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, test, and shipping

  • Ensures production schedules can be met in a Lean Manufacturing environment to satisfy assembly line and parts schedule requirements

  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Section Managers, Team Leads and Team Members

  • Develops detailed near-term and long-term production plans

  • Drives root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, production.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in an accredited curriculum or 7 years of experience in manufacturing

  • 5 years of supervisory experience

Top candidates will also have:

  • Solid management, motivational, organization, problem solving, human relations and communications skills

  • Project Management experience

  • General understanding of the Caterpillar manufacturing processes

  • General IT understanding

Will facilitate relationships with Product Engineering and suppliers. Establish and maintain working level relationships and is the primary interface for the Product Group and supplier. Responsible for managing new product programs including coordination of product design, component processing, to assure meeting customer expectations while meeting functional and cost targets. Facilitates prioritization for NPI, CPI, NTI, and NSI programs between Product Group and Supplier * Assist / coordinate foundry PPAP information, particularly needs from Product Engineering * Act as NPI manager for new parts being introduced * Leads the Product Engineering/Supplier * Drive rough part procurement for scanning; prioritize and coordinate part scanning with supplier * Support cost validation * Provide guidance to design teams from in depth knowledge of process for cost effective designs * Provide direct communication from supplier to Product Engineers and Designers * Communicate Product Engineers' concerns directly to Supplier Engineers and Management * Provide required engineering support for resolution of factory support and CPI quality issues * Document issues, lessons learned and provide recommendations. * Ensure BIQ governance to drive the team to a zero-defect mentality * Aid in quality control and provide engineering input immediately on issues with input from Product Engineering Support implementation of the Quality Intensive Care Program for Supplier and drive within the Product Engineering team Works with teams to ensure conformity to quality processes * Ensure products conformity within specifications Aid in the development of IPV's and communicate to Product Engineering Lead efforts to respond to customer feedback Create and maintain an organizational climate / culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement / commitment and a sense of urgency. This position is located in Hodges, SC to provide Product Engineering support for components transitioning into the facility. This position will provide a direct interface between all parties and will be a key member of the team working to identify and transition of castings.
