Position Purpose: The Jennersville YMCA is looking for enthusiastic, fitness-focused staff members to instruct group exercise classes. Class formats include: Yoga, Cycle, Pilates, Barre, Step, Zumba/Cardio Dance, SilverSneakers and Les Mills formats.
Responsibilities:
Conduct group exercise classes and aid in a safe, thorough, courteous and professional manner
Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine Group Exercise best practices
Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude
Start and end classes on time
Greet participants and learn their names
Teach all scheduled classes, or secure sub coverage as needed
Identify your participants' limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly
Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
Promote a healthy lifestyle
Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by YMCA of Greater Brandywine or other YMCAs
Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required
Possess and maintain at least one Group Exercise certification from a nationally accredited organization
Obtain and maintain foundations of Group Exercise (or Group Exercise Instructor) or a nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification
