NV5 is seeking a Group Director to join our San Diego, CA Water Resources team. The selected candidate will provide leadership, strategic planning, staff development and business development within the water resources market sector.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor strategic plans, staffing plans and performance metrics for the Water Resources market sector.

  • Establish contacts and build relationships with existing clients and prospective clients.

  • Serve as Project Manager and technical leader on Water Resources projects.

  • Provide leadership to the Water Resources Group, including day-to-day operations.

  • Manage budgets, including labor, expense and project budgets.

  • Deliver on group short-term and mid-term business objectives

  • Develop critical mass of the group (people, process and tools) to meet office and/or regional needs.

  • Provide workload planning, recruiting and talent pool development, and project management.

  • Lead the Water Resources group in developing and writing proposals.

  • Network to maintain and enhance the company's local public image and reputation as engineer of choice.

Qualifications

  • P.E. license in the State of California

  • 10-15 years of experience in flood control design, drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic methods and modeling.

  • Minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory role.

  • Familiarity with San Diego Regional MS4 permit and local stormwater regulations

Position can be based in Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange or San Diego, CA. This individual will support the offices within California on a wide range of projects while pursuing opportunities for Water Resources projects throughout Southern CA. Likely project areas will include drainage on various engineering projects (i.e. land development, roadway, and aviation), while leading tasks utilizing AutoCAD, GIS, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater planning, storm drain and BMP design. Essential Functions: * Lead a team preparing hydraulic and hydrology models. Knowledge of AES, WMS, SWMM, FLO-2D, WSPGW, StormCAD, and HEC-RAS is a plus. * Prepare studies, drainage reports, WQMP, design documents, and design plans and specifications for civil and water resources projects * Lead business development activities including marketing, client engagement, developing scopes of work, and budgeting. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related * Registered P.E. * Minimum of 10 years of experience in the civil and water resources engineering field * Expert experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (H&H), stormwater planning, storm drain and BMP design * Strong technical writing skills, including drainage studies, CLOMR/LOMR, and Master Plan * Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including pipe networks and SSA. * Business development experience including client engagement, participating in interviews, marketing, developing scopes of work, and budgeting.
