Job Summary

A Group, Conference, and Events (GCE) Assistant Manager manages the Groups, Conference and Events Sales office and the on-property Reservations Team to actively convert customer enquiries into confirmed sales.

What will I be doing?

Responsible for assisting in leading and managing the GC&E Department of the hotel to its fullest potential, ensuring that it meets both current and future needs of the business.

Ensures that the team actively converts customer enquiries into confirmed business.

The Assistant GC&E Manager will interact frequently with customers and guests to ensure customer satisfaction and develop relationships from which to earn repeat and expanded business.

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Maximise all Group, Conference, and Event revenue opportunities

  • Contribute to the selling strategy of the hotel, and manage the departments' adherence to achieving that strategy

  • Understand the competitive market place and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays ahead in the local market

  • Conduct weekly spot checks of five bookings carried out with a minimum of 90% achieved in any departmental and system audits for any Team Member

  • Ensure the Group, Conference, and Events (GCE) Team Members are developed effectively and generate a culture of high quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, and billing and processing contracts

  • Demonstrated previous managerial or supervisory experience in a Reservations and/or Conference and Events Sales function in the hotel/leisure sector

  • Strong analytical skills to understand key business indicators and competitive trends and develop approaches to these challenges

  • Excellent selling capability and an ability and desire to coach selling techniques to their team

  • Excellent organisational and planning skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Knowledge of the hotel property management systems

The GC&E Manager will interact frequently with customers and guests to ensure customer satisfaction and develop relationships from which to earn repeat and expanded business. Key Responsibilities Sales Focus: * Proactively identifies new opportunities to drive repeat/new business from customers * Strives to convert every piece of business which fits the hotel strategy. * Liaise and maintain close relationships with Hilton Worldwide Sales (HWS) offices in key GOB markets. Commercial Focus: * Draw up GC&E budget, forecast and business plan; identify gaps and ensures pro-active efforts to fill capacity (e.g. by promotion activities) * Setting, implementing and adapting the GC&E Sales strategy through the analysis of information and market conditions, to maximize room and conference & events revenue. * Understanding the competitive market place and implementing approaches to ensure the hotels stay ahead in the local market * To exceed the total GC&E budget through maximizing all revenue streams by cultivating a 'Team Sales' attitude * Accountability for achieving GC&E revenue targets through a deep understanding of the product and by increasing conversion at the highest possible rate Customer Focus: * To fully understand the needs of the customer and strive to meet or exceed those expectations at all times. * Versatile and positive in developing and managing customer relationships with a high standard of communication. * Develop relationships within the local market by attending network events and staying in close contact with city marketing and NBTC.
