To provide temporary landscape work using semi-skilled grounds maintenance tasks to maintain the health and appearance of The University of Texas at Austin campus landscape.
Temporary assignment. Job offer contingent upon applicant clearing a background check and passing a strength and agility test (WorkSTEPS).
Maintains landscape to University standards (to include all turf, shrubs, and hardscapes) and reports trouble conditions on campus that might be a safety hazard to the University community.
Safely operates landscaping equipment (to include power mowers, cultivators, edgers, small sweepers, and other equipment used in gardening work).
Picks up litter, empties trash receptacles, and keeps University property neat and orderly.
Irrigates the landscape, abides by water restrictions, and performs minor repairs on irrigation systems.
Follow and readily accept written and oral instructions, maintain work schedule set by the supervisor, and complete routine paperwork to include hourly time report.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the task, follow safety rules, and maintain safe working conditions.
Experience following basic work instructions. Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds. Capable of working in all types of adverse conditions (weather, dust, noise, heights, fumes, etc).
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience in grounds care and maintenance.
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
