Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary: We have multiple vacancies. Applies skilled knowledge and makes independent decisions when pruning large and small trees, thinning and/or shaping shrubs and hedges.
Applies safe operating techniques when operating equipment. Maintains and operates zero turning radius riding lawn and snow removal equipment, tractors, walk behind mowers, riding and hand guided snow removal equipment, trucks, loaders, sprayers, spreaders, and other power equipment pertaining to work assignments using operating instructions, training, safety and knowledge.
Applies current up to date safety techniques when operating different types of gas equipment and hand tools. Brings any breach of safety techniques to the attention of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. Maintains and operates hand held power tools and hand operated tools such as chain saws, gas operated hedge trimmers, drills, generators, loppers, etc. for year round landscape maintenance of land and parking areas using instructions and manufacturer manuals. Maintain building entrances, sidewalks, and parking lots for clean and safe and functional purposes using hand and power equipment.
Reads blue prints, schematics, or follow verbal instructions, understands and selects correct plant material. Applies skilled planting knowledge when planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and etc. Prepares planting sites for flower beds, turf grass and trees using appropriate and correct tools and/or cultivators, plants flowers, trees, shrubs, and etc., sprays, fertilizers, mulches, as instructed by supervisor.
Reads and interprets manufacturer's recommendations, makes up correct water dilution of chemical or select correct concentrated sprayer setting for material and applies correct volume of material to designated area. Applies various insecticides, herbicides and fungicides for control of weeds, insects and disease using spray equipment, safety, instructions and knowledge.
Assists supervisor in reviewing project or service requests. Must write, keep and forward simple records to Grounds Supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver License
Minimum Qualifications: No experience required. This position will require the ability to lift 50 pounds. This will be necessary to lift fertilizer, snow melt, landscaping materials and other miscellaneous materials.
