Groundskeeper (Part-Time: June - October 2024)

Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center is a retirement community committed to providing our residents and staff with the upmost dignity and respect. We have served the community for 55 years, and we pride ourselves on the care that we have provided.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a part-time, seasonal Groundskeeper. The ideal candidate works well both independently and as a member of a team. This position reports to the Director of Facility Operations.

Schedule Details:

Duration: June through October

Schedule: Monday through Friday (28 hours; 4-5 days per week)

Reports to: Director of Facility Operations

General Job Duties: Implements maintenance procedures to repair, maintain, clean, organize, secure, and enhance the appearance of the facility and facilitate operations. Focus is on total campus grounds.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (preferred):

• Physical condition allowing for normal maintenance duties including but not limited to; lifting (up to 80 pounds), bending, stooping, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, standing, or walking an entire shift, use of arms and hands with dexterity, climbing, crawling, ability to read and understand directions.

• Possesses mechanical ability and is resourceful

• Ability to work outside during all weather conditions.

• Ability to operate a wide variety of outdoor power equipment including, but not limited to: chain saw; brush cutters; trimmers; skid loader; compact tractor; golf carts; utility vehicles; lawn mowers, etc.

• Ability to communicate in a friendly manner to residents and coworkers in English

• Ability to perform a variety of tasks and to pay attention to a variety of details at one time

• Ability to show warmth, compassion and make residents feel comfortable

• Able to work occasional weekends.

• Experience in grounds keeping and working with the elderly population is a plus. *

• Two years groundskeeper experience (preferred)

• Experience in an institutional facility (preferred)
