JOB DESCRIPTION
General Statement of Duties
Under the general supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the golf course groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the golf course and its landscaping around the course, clubhouse, and other club facilities to include parking lots. Incumbent must also be able to operate specialized turf equipment.
Essential Functions
Maintain regular, reliable, and prompt attendance, physically present to work;
Gather and empty trash, fallen branches, palm leaves, etc. in and around the golf course and facility;
Mow greens, fairways, tee boxes and rough by operating specialized turf equipment;
Set up golf course (cups, tee markers) for daily play and help with tournaments when needed;
Repair and maintain driving range tee area;
Mow and edge ground area around tee boxes and cart paths;
Weed-eat and trim around ponds;
Assist in irrigation repairs;
Rake sand bunkers;
Trim trees and shrubs that interfere with the game of golf and remove cuttings;
Clean and store equipment after daily use; and
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
No supervisory duties are included in this position.
Work Environment
Incumbent will work mostly outdoors. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and cold. Tasks performed are under relatively close supervision.
Physical Demands
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and handling, sitting, standing, pushing, and pulling. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The job has medium hazards associated with working with equipment and the physical demands are high.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Incumbent should be prepared to work a 40-hour work week which will include weekends & holidays as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Possession of a valid, appropriate Texas (Class C) driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Pre¬-employment drug screen and physical required.
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year experience in golf course maintenance and its operational procedures. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for golf course maintenance operations.
