Position Description
Position Title: Grounds/Custodian Maintenance
Reports To: Facilities/Transportation Director
Evaluated By: Facilities/Transportation Director
JOB SUMMARY: Performs routine and extensive grounds keeping and building maintenance duties on all school buildings and facilities to produce an attractive, clean, safe environment for the entire staff and student body.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cuts lawn using hand, power or riding mower, trims and edges around walks, flower beds, wall etc.
Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. Prunes shrubs and trees.
Remove trash and litter from the grounds.
Removes snow and ice from building walkways and steps, rake leaves, sweep and clean walkways.
May perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in the grounds department.
Assist The Maintenance Department to install, repair and maintain various items and equipment on the school facilities.
All duties to help maintain and upkeep of the campus.
Unlock doors and have building ready for the day.
Clean office areas.
Check building for areas the evening crew may have missed.
Clean door glass windows on entry doors or any glass that needs cleaning.
Clean and disinfect teachers' lounge, tables and counter tops.
Clean and disinfect all restrooms.
Check all restrooms and replenish supplies in all dispensers in the building. (Soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
Spot mop hard surface floors during the day.
Dust mop hallways.
Clean off the front entrances daily.
Keep all custodial closets clean.
Keep all equipment clean.
Clean cafeteria tables with disinfect daily
Pull up cafeteria tables and mop and auto scrub floors daily.
Empty all trash containers.
Perform any and all other duties assigned by your supervisor or building principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel, lifting, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 100 lbs.
