Salaried, full-time.

Earn a competitive salary between $60-72k, based on years of experience.

Position Summary: The Grounds Supervisor, in accordance with established policies and procedures, is responsible for performing, coordinating and supervising the overall landscaping and lawn maintenance program and providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure that objectives are met. This position reports to the Associate Director of Facility Operations.

  • Assists in the planning, scheduling and supervising of grounds personnel.

  • Assigns groundskeepers to specific jobs and spot checks work to ensure workmanship meets standards and that safety standards are in compliance.

  • Performs lawn, tree and shrub, greens, and sprinkler maintenance.

  • Provides on-the-job training for groundskeepers.

  • Recommends equipment, labor and material needs to supervisor.

  • Supervises and assists, during winter, with snow removal efforts.

  • Inspects lawn maintenance equipment to determine repair on maintenance needs and cleanliness.

  • Participates in cost controls.

  • Maintains pertinent records, reports and studies.

  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

  • procedures; uses equipment and materials properly.

  • Ensure that all grounds employees are properly trained in the use of proper PPE for grounds duties. Ensure that grounds employees are wearing proper PPE at all necessary times. Responsible for training grounds employees in PPE and company standards regarding PPE.

Education and/or Experience

  • VDACS Pesticide Applicator Certificate Categories 3-A and 3-B required.

  • 10 years of turf management experience and a degree in horticulture, grounds maintenance, turf management, or related field. A combination of education and experience that equals 10 years will also be considered. 5 years of this experience must be supervisory.

  • Proficient in plant ID including design/installation of annuals and perennials and ornamental landscaping.

  • Irrigation. Ability to diagnose, repair and install all submersible sprinkler system components.

  • Mechanical aptitude to repair all brands of turf management equipment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, budgeting, and planning skills required.

  • Our ideal candidate has the following characteristics:

  • Ability to provide excellent follow through on the quality and timeliness of deliverables.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

  • Previous experience in the health care field and/or with an elderly population preferred. Knowledge of fire safety and MSDS training also preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of software applications including Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word).

  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, including phone and email.

  • Ability to manage and mentor landscaping team members.

  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse team.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Positive leadership, attitude, and teamwork.
