Grounds Maintenance Technician

Pay: $15.75 - $18.90 Involved in the repair and lawn maintenance of all County facilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists the Lead Grounds Maintenance Technician with coordinating the activities assigned to his crew that are involved in the lawn maintenance and needed repairs at the County's facilities, and all lawn maintenance equipment.

Reviews and completes job orders as required. Ensures that all necessary tools and materials required are available to complete projects. Coordinates with the Grounds Maintenance Superintendent to arrange for all lawn maintenance equipment to be available for assigned projects.

Ensures timely repairs to equipment assigned to the crew. Enforces safety regulations and ensures availability of required safety equipment and protective clothing for his crew, as well as interprets County policies. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

Maintains assigned vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements:

Experience in landscape/lawn maintenance is desirable. Valid Florida driver's license (Class B or higher is preferred) with clean driving record. A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Must possess a minimum of one-year experience in general maintenance repair work, landscaping, park maintenance or related recreational facility. Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Supplemental Information:

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Ability to operate and make minor repairs to all equipment used in the daily performance of duties and responsibilities. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Ability to work with little or no supervision. Ability to make responsible decisions. Ability to work effectively with co-workers, management, other County employees, and the general public.

The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions and should be able to withstand various extremes of weather and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
