Purpose of the Position:. Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
Focus of the Position:. Maintain School District grounds and outlying buildings.
School Year and Contract Length/ Days: (2024-2025 / 260 Days)
Salary:. Salary placement on our Classified Salary schedule is dependent on the employee's education and/or work experience. Certified/licensed employees will be granted one (1) year for each full year of contractual and/or work experience up to a maximum of ten (10) years, which includes in-district and out-of-district work experience. Responsibility for verification of outside experience shall rest with the individual employee.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Valid Colorado Drivers License with the ability to obtain CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements.
High School Diploma required; College Degree preferred.
Evidence of formal training in horticultural subjects, or two years' experience in gardening, or agriculture and irrigation.
Prior experience operating and maintaining lawn mowers, front-end loaders, and tractors.
Knowledge of landscape implements and their usage.
Prior experience working with landscape irrigation systems.
Have skills and knowledge relating to plumbing systems.
Lifting requirement of 80 lbs. minimum.
Certified in chemical application or ability to obtain certification.
Preferred:
Experience in supervising employees, planning and scheduling day to day work.
Commercial Driver's License
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:
Essential Functions and Characteristics:
Organizes, initiates and plans grounds work schedule in consultation with the CFO and Athletic Director.
Maintain an attractive appearance of district grounds including, but not limited to, planting decorative, ornamental living vegetation, pruning trees, trimming hedges.
Prepares and cares for district wide turf areas with fertilizers, replacement sod/seed and irrigation.
Mows regularly with a large area mower and trims using a weed eater.
Operates, repairs and maintains irrigation systems across the district.
Implements snow removal of parking lots and sidewalk areas during winter months through early arrival and coordination with district personnel. Applies ice melt to sidewalks to prevent slippery areas.
Maintains and repairs playground equipment, trashcans, benches, and picnic tables.
Prepares and maintains athletic field areas including adequate irrigation and weed control. Responsible for the condition of playing areas and lining fields with paint.
Manage, maintain, and perform routine repairs on all department equipment.
Planning and scheduling of regular field maintenance, including but not limited to, field preparation for events, chemical, pesticide, and fertilizer applications.
Establish priorities on repair projects and recommend future Bond projects on an annual basis.
Plan projects, inspect work, and assist in assigning staff as needed.
Develop a system for dealing with emergency repair problems with efficiency.
Prepare reports on costs of work done, materials used, and labor expended
Order material, parts or supplies as needed.
Assigns work orders, check drawings and plans.
Consult with building principals regarding the establishment of regular preventive maintenance programs.
Maintain such personnel and other records as required.
Recruit, screen, recommend for hiring, and train all personnel necessary to the operation and maintenance of the particular building.
Advise hiring of contractors to perform certain maintenance or repair services.
Supervises Seasonal Grounds personnel.
Will be required to drive school bus.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the CFO.
