Overview

This is a hands-on position performing work involving skills of general maintenance, grounds keeping and miscellaneous repair duties to keep the facility in good operating condition.

This role will pay an hourly wage of $19 to $20.00.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions

  • Maintaining gardens and lawns, by grass cutting, hedge trimming, trash removal, snow shoveling if warranted

  • Operating and maintaining garden equipment.

  • Perform general building maintenance to include painting, maintaining mechanical equipment, and miscellaneous repairs.

  • Perform preventative maintenance

  • Operating and maintaining garden equipment.

  • Inspect all fire extinguishers and alarms.

  • Perform projects that include working with sheet-rock, wall vinyl, etc.

  • Maintain shop equipment and workstation with attention to safety and housekeeping.

  • Record all work performed. Maintain log of all maintenance and repair activities.

  • Assist other Operation Department divisions to expedite set-up and tear-down events whenever possible.

  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power driven equipment.

  • Follow all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures

  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

  • Effectively work under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.

  • Maintain and effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.

  • Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions to supervisor immediately.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Facility Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Ability to recognize and use simple hand-held, manual and power tools needed for performance of general maintenance duties.

  • Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.

  • Possess any licenses, certificates or training required by local, state or national authorities for the operation of the equipment utilized in the facility.

  • Possess sufficient hearing to clearly hear voices, alarms, bells and horns.

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time on hard-surface floor.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and understand verbal and written instructions.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to operate a forklift and licensed to operate a forklift.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Two or more years of experience in general maintenance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Performing work through repetitive eye/hand coordination.

  • Daily lifting up to 50 lbs. for up to 5 minutes at a time. Daily carrying up to 50 lbs. up to 5 minutes at a time.

  • Climbing ladders and staircases multiple times per day as needed.

  • Constant standing, walking, stooping. Constant reaching, handling products.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of radiation

  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals

  • Will require being outside during adverse weather conditions.

  • May be exposed to high noise levels for extended periods of time.

  • May require being indoors and outdoors several times a day

  • May be limited exposure to heat and cold, dust, pollen, fumes

HOURS OF WORK AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

  • May require extended hours as determined by event schedule.
