The Facilities Services department at Keene State College invites applications for a Grounds Event Lead to provide work order and special event facilitation as well as completion of routine grounds maintenance responsibilities. This is a full-time, benefited position.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Three years related experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written

  • Basic computer skills needed for email, work order system etc.

  • Supervisory and interpersonal relationship skills

  • Willingness to learn new skills/methods

  • Knowledge of the use of power tools and equipment of the trades

  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record

  • Ability to obtain Defensive Driving Certification within first 6 months of employment

  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within first year of employment. (Can be provided and completed through KSC health and safety programs)

  • Position involves heavy lifting, working in a variety of workplace conditions and the ability to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary. Post offer, pre-employment physical exam also required

  • Weekend and call-in hours as required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional years related experience that will contribute to departmental needs

  • Knowledge of KSC campus or other college university settings

  • Famility with work management systems

Duty/Responsibility

Assist the supervisor as primary Grounds Dept. contact in the supervisors absence in regards to events.

Responsibilities include receiving phone, mail, e-mail and radio calls, prioritizing and delegating responsibilities for requests for assistance including work order requests, Completion of all assigned work orders in a timely manner, follow up with work order originators, assistance and direction of student help, to work collaboratively with all other Grounds Dept. employees to fulfill our routine responsibilities as a dept., to work collaboratively with all other departments, to direct Grounds Dept. resources and personnel as needs arise, to provide point of contact for all event set-ups requiring Grounds Dept. assistance and to provide the supervisor a report of pertinent matters upon their return.

Duty/Responsibility

Worker - grounds liaison.

Responsibilities include answering any questions and resolving problems that are presented by the callers, receiving and responding to calls for assistance of the Grounds Dept., communicating with appropriate persons or depts. to resolve matters. This can range from the benign to an emergency. Directly supervise and train student workers as assigned.

Duty/Responsibility

Work order requests- event set-ups and planning

Coordinate most office and furniture moves with those involved as well as with fellow grounds workers. Assist in planning event layouts in spaces that are not often utilized and occasionally provide layouts using Social tables. Set-up for events at Thorne Art Center, Alumni, TDS and deliver/set-up tables for smaller events/catering. Coordinates event set-ups with catering as well as those responsible for the space that is being utilized.

Duty/Responsibility

Maintainence of a section of campus.

Responsibilities currently include: Keddy Hall, 361 Main St., The Commons, Pondside 3, Redfern Arts Center, Pondside 1, Pondside 2, 3 houses on Appleton. This includes vigilance of potential hazards such as ice build up on roofs to dangerous people or activities on campus. Routine seasonal maintenance around these buildings. Planning and prioritization of work; training, supervision and coordination of student help; knowledge of required equipment and safety regulations and light maintenance of equipment.

Grounds Dept. team member.

Responsibilities are to work as an equal team member towards departmental goals including special events, snow emergencies and large-scale grounds maintenance tasks such as snow removal. Other duties as assigned.
