Requirements / Qualifications

Possession of a valid California Driver's License. Knowledge of: the basic methods, tools, and equipment used in the groundskeeping trade; the safe operation and routine maintenance of a variety of heavy motorized groundskeeping equipment.

Skill to: read and write at a level sufficient for successful job performance, understand and follow oral and written instructions; maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to successfully perform required duties. For further qualifications, refer to attached job description under minimum qualifications

To operate specialized grounds equipment used in the upkeep and maintenance of district grounds and to perform grounds maintenance work as assigned. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a supervisory level and within a framework of standard policies and procedures.

This job class exercises responsibility for the safe operation and routine maintenance of specialized grounds equipment and for the upkeep and maintenance of assigned district grounds. A detailed job description can be located on the Oak Grove School District Website; www.ogsd.net.

About the Employer

Oak Grove School District has a total student enrollment of approximately 8,800 students from grades TK-8. We have 18 school campuses along with a TK-8 Virtual Learning Academy (VLA). Six out of eighteen schools receive Title I funds.

The size of the schools range from approximately 730 students to 270 students. The percentage of English Learners is 29% representing 56 languages spoken in the District. Oak Grove School District's focus is driven by the LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) and school site-specific SPSA (Single Plan for Student Achievement) which identifies short, intermediate, and long-term goals.

First and foremost in all activities is the safety of students as well as student success in the areas of math and reading/language arts interwoven with science, social studies and visual and performing arts. Student performance goals have been integrated into the state and federal accountability systems. Annually, the LCAP and SPSA's are updated with our students, staff and various community groups in keeping with our core values, the vision, and the annual goals.

The District is located in the southeastern corner of San Jose, California bounded by Capitol Expressway to the north, Canoas Creek to the west, Bernal Road to the south and the foothills to the east.
