Ground Transportation Operations Assistant
General Description and Classification Standards
This position will expire on September 3, 2018
The salary for this position is $29,900 - $37,400
The duties of this position will assist in the regulation of all modes of transportation at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which include airport taxicabs, limousines, shared ride shuttles, charter buses and rideshare network companies pursuant to the City of Atlanta Code of Ordinance and in accordance with the Georgia State Department of Public Safety and Driver Services. This position will ensure that a variety of regulated and permitted modes of transportation options, are readily available for the traveling public.
This position requires the ability to provide optimum customer service satisfaction in assisting the airport's customers with their desired mode of transportation request. In order to accomplish this, this position will patrol respective Ground Transportation areas, ensuring that authorized permitted companies and contractors are in compliance with all rules and regulations and operate and/or perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner.
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Inspect all Ground Transportation areas and facilities to assure safety, security, and efficiency of operations and the expeditious flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Frequently check to ensure that all commercial vehicles accessing the Ground Transportation areas of operation possess a current decal and are providing service in designated areas.
Check for documentation from non-permit holders, such as permit cards or letter of authorization of approved pickup.
Ensure that authorized employees and drivers visibly display a company issued I.D. Badge while on airport property.
Provide informational and directional assistance to the traveling public regarding Ground Transportation services provided at the airport.
Perform periodic checks of the Ground Transportation airport access road network to identify potential safety hazards.
Respond to, investigate, and document all related Ground Transportation incidents and/or accidents.
Assist in diverting pedestrian traffic away from construction zones within the Ground Transportation areas.
Observe taxi operations and request adjustments when required to meet demand.
Monitor all Ground Transportation service contracts and ensure they are in compliance of contractual duties.
Provide directional and informational assistance to the public concerning the use of airport transportation services and related ground transportation support facilities.
Respond accordingly to incidents or accidents and exercise independent judgment that will be in the interest of the customer or consumer.
Facilitate and mitigate crowd or vehicle congestion and coordinate with appropriate airport authorities to ensure resolution.
Inspect permit holder's commercial vehicles internal and external to ensure that they are in compliance with standards of operations and regarding appearance, cleanliness and safety.
Report signage inaccuracies to the supervisor and follow-up to assure that the problems are corrected.
Facilitate preventive maintenance or repairs needed within the Ground Transportation facilities or report to appropriate department for resolution.
Discourage solicitation practices.
Utilizes a two-way radio or mobile device for communicating with police personnel, airport operations, and supervisor.
Enforce correction of infractions through verbal and written warnings.
Respond accordingly to verbal complaints, protests etc., from unhappy or irate individuals using tact and diplomacy in order to maintain positive public image.
Conduct daily inspections of company vehicles (internally/externally) ensuring that they are in compliance as it relates to Term & Conditions outlined within the permit holder's permit. (i.e., proper affixed advertisement of company, vehicular body damage, cleanliness, etc.).
Prepare and submit accurate daily observation report at the end of each shift to your supervisor.
Prepare and submit inspection reports to your supervisor in accordance with established guidelines.
Performs other related duties as required.

None. May oversee temporary or contract workers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
6 months of operational, administrative or clerical experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
Preferred Education & Experience
Associates Degree in related field and 1-3 years of operational, administrative or clerical and supervisory experience preferred.
