Title:

Ground Support Equipment Technician

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician will perform task in support of Space Suit Assembly and Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Tools and Crew Aid Equipment processing, testing, and training. The GSE Technician will collaborate with members of the EVA Hardware & Design Engineering Team, GSE Engineering Team, Quality & Safety, outside vendors, and customers to ensure smooth incorporation and development of new or modified test equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The GSE Technician responsibilities include the following:

  • Inspection and maintenance of GSE test equipment and special tooling required for maintenance, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and sizing of the Space Suit Assembly, EVA Tools, and components.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and testing procedures conferring to NASA requirements and equipment OEMs.

  • Work with a team of technicians and engineers to ensure systems and equipment are maintained with the highest level of quality to support current and future manifest.

  • Perform troubleshooting, assembly, repair, and testing of discrepant hardware and equipment.

  • Perform scheduled calibration and sampling of GSE equipment.

  • Clean Room and Controlled Work Area maintenance and monitoring.

  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.

  • Perform all tasks in a manner fully consistent with KBR practices and procedures.

  • Advise a supervisor of a situation that may impact customer relationship.

  • Provide accurate and sufficient information on all required documents.

  • Satisfactory completion of all required/assigned training, including On the Job Training and Cross-training in other specialized areas.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ Years of mechanical and electrical experience

  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and test planning activities

  • Familiarity with standard lab practices, including safety and quality

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to read schematics and drawings

  • Ability to use MS Office tools and applications

  • Ability to work overtime to support customer

  • Ability to maintain a professional manner and attitude in difficult situations

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Documents

  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's license and maintain a good driving record and able to operate a company or government vehicle.

  • Physical Effort to move objects or tools that weigh up to 40 lbs.

  • High Level of dexterity in the use of a variety of hand and power tools

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred, Electrical Technician with experience in AC/DC circuits, Solid State technology, Sensor Technology, and Instrumentation. Also familiar with techniques such as wiring, crimping, splicing, soldering, resistance testing.

  • Associate Degree or Military School certification plus 1 year of position related work experience, or the equivalent of High School Graduate and have a minimum of 3-4 years of position related work experience.

  • Experience with aircraft, aerospace, or ground support equipment, with emphasis on electrical knowledge, or similar.

  • Education in mechanics, electrical, or hydraulic systems

  • High School Diploma or GED
